The UK is beyond a nanny state now!
This is a symbol of something much more sinister. Getting us to be reliant upon our care givers.
We are being stripped of our common sense.
Transport for London has taken over responsibility for our health and wellbeing. I can ignore this because I have no plans to go to London. And I am a grown up who can think for myself.

ReplyDeleteI am all for helping people who need it, but I don't think it is London's Transports responsibility to mollycoddle it's passengers.
DeleteWe have always been reliant on our caregivers, and it will become more evident as we age. Some people need to be reminded of decency. I think that sign was a nice suggestion. Maybe its just because I had children, grandchildren, and taught other people's children for many years, so I just naturally tend to look for ways I can help. I love how you feed animals and seem to enjoy the company of others in your trips around your beautiful country.
ReplyDeleteI always thought of a caregiver as being a person who assists another in their day to day tasks when they are not able to look after themselves. Now it seems everyone is expected to look after everyone else, regardless of whether they need it or not.
DeleteI’m sure it’s only so they can say “We told you so!” Common sense has long flown the coup and I fear will never find its way back again.
ReplyDeleteI get a feeling that this kind of nanny state is a money saving exercise. Imagine if a person collapsed on a station platform while waiting for a train. It could be hours because trains are frequently late. Someone could sue the railways because there are not enough vending machines to buy a drink. This notice would let them off the hook, by saying it's your fault because you didn't bring a drink with you.
