Blame

I think it's very sad that people who religiously wear masks are quick to blame those who do not wear a mask, for prolonging the life of the virus. There are many legitimate reasons why people don't cover their faces, and to attack them, without knowing the full story shows a distinct lack of empathy. The Government is succeeding in turning people against each other, and main stream media is their mouthpiece.

  1. I agree with you Ilona in that people should not be so judgemental. My personal opinion is that if you can wear a mask, then do. It won't stop the virus being spread, but it could help to reduce the rate of infection and as the saying goes, every little helps. Medical staff wear them when performing operations/certain treatments to stop cross contamination, so it seems logical to me, that they could help with reducing the spread of Covid. If people cannot wear one, then they can't and they shouldn't be vilified for it. We should all be careful, not take unnecessary risks and be respectful of each other. Sharoony.

  2. I have just seen an elderly lady walk past my house. She comes by every morning to go to the shop. She struggles to walk, has been ill for some time. She uses one of those push along things on wheels, a walking aid. It's sunny, she is outdoors, she is wearing a bloody mask. That's how frightened people have become.

    1. The elderly lady is at risk when she reaches the shop, however! Perhaps she just finds it easier to wear it all the time rather than put it on when entering the shop. The pity of this is that there is no young person prepared to do her shopping for her, freeing up her energy for a lovely walk in the sunshine ....without a mask!

    2. She used to have a dog, it died of old age. She walked it, maybe she still wants to go out. The shop isn't far away. Her daughter and family live close by.

    3. I feel so sorry for people like the elderly lady. Losing her dog must have been dreadful; they are such wonderful companions. I don't blame her for wanting to get out and about and to continue to do her own shopping. Our lives are getting smaller by the day. I see they plan to shift the elderly out of hospitals into care homes again. What could possibly go wrong (again!)? I can't wear a mask. It gives me a crashing headache. My friend bought me a visor that can be used instead, so I don't get told off by others that stand inches from me to do so!! I don't think masks work, but my mental health is not up to confrontation at the moment.

    4. I think she gets her main shopping done for her. She goes for a newspaper in the mornings, like a lot of old people do. They like their daily read.

I'm glad you have found a way round the problem.

  3. Yes, masks don't much protect people wearing them, but they DO protect other people. Part of my work is endless video meetings with all kind of professionals. I haven't yet met a single one saying there's no use to wear a mask. Virologists, tecnicians, scientists doing aerosol studies, doctors working on infection wards - the all wear masks (outside their homes, at work, in shops, in public transport etc). And if they wear masks, I will, too. The don't agree with politicians saying masks are of no use.
And yes, ALL of them say if you for some reason cannot wear the mask, then DON'T ( like asthma or heart desease or panic attacs) But if you can't use mask, and have symptoms, keep away from people, stay home.
I have told this before: I wear a mask so other people, like you, who can't wear one, are safer.

  4. I beg to differ, and everyone has their own opinion but as someone who has experienced exposure with someone from Covid at my mother in laws funeral back in June - he was wearing a mask and we were. Everyone at the funeral was contacted. No one was exposed thankfully except his family. His wife is still recuperating 3 months later. Him and his son recuperated faster. In my world, it certainly can't hurt. While there are legitimate reasons for not wearing masks the vast majority who don't are selfish in my opinion.

  5. The virus enters and exits through the mask - along with the other 380 trillion viruses that surround us every day. They are pointless.

  6. Masks are useless - viruses will pass through them like flies through an open window. They trap bacteria and creat a moist breeding ground on your face and back into your lungs. Filthy things.

  7. Face masks aren't a magic bullet, however depending on the mask and how it's worn it can cut transmission by as little as 10% to as much as 95% but it's an easy to do and people should do the easy things to look after each other, in my humble opinion.

Look at America, Democrats and Republicans. One in agreement with masks one very definitely against them and look who has had most infections? Is this really coincidence?

  8. I agree! Masks do NOT work! I'm in Florida, which is now in Phase 3 (open everything), but the county I live in has power-hungry commissioners who insist the county mask mandate will stay in place until at least the new year. That said, our state Governor took away all penalties for not complying with mask mandates, so there are a LOT of people (and more every day) who are no longer wearing masks. Myself included. (The mainstream media falsely states that more Republicans than Democrats have the virus. And we ALL know that the MSM is a well-spring of truth (not!)).

    1. I read that Florida ditched the masks and it hasn't made any difference to numbers.

  9. Masks DO work. Mine protects you and yours protects me... if you don’t wear one you spread air particles as you breathe in and talk.. studies done verify that.

  10. Masks do work there is science to prove it. That's why surgeons have to wear masks when operating.

The question is do they help prevent covid transmission? How would we prove that?
We would need to do test cases of people wearing masks and people not wearing masks and expose them all to covid. Cant see that happening.

    1. I wonder what replies they would get if they asked every person who tested positive, and those who actually showed symptoms and caught covid, have you been wearing a mask? They wouldn't get an accurate figure because people wouldn't remember where and when they did or didn't wear one. Only closely monitored and recorded cases would provide a figure.

The Government are not listening to the experts.

    2. Surgeons don't wear home made masks.

    3. The only masks that are truly effective are medical PPE. You don't see surgeons wearing flimsy blue ones as worn by the public.

  11. I don't believe the govt can control the virus because they can't police 65m people 24/7. People touch the masks, shove them in pockets etc and in some instances they probably help to spread the virus. I hate this creepy masked up world, hate not being able to read people's faces, no smiles, no conversation it's horrible. I do wear one because it's the law and I can't cope with aggression from others. I would never challenge a non mask wearer, I just assume they are exempt. I associate masks with experiences I had with dental anaesthetics as a child. Some can't wear them because having something shoved over their face was part of an assault, some have genuine medical reasons. I can always move away if I'm near to someone I'm not comfortable with, their choices aren't my business. I keep busy with this and that but see my remaining active years slipping away because of this endless saga. I think the virus will just do as it will and there's not much we can do about it tbh.

    1. If the powers that be can't police our coastline, how can they possibly police every person living on this island. Although the sight of people masked up sickens me, I would be sick if I wore one, I would not challenge those who choose to wear one. It is their business.

There are a lot more serious issues going on behind the scenes, mask wearing is just a small part of it. Those who choose not to look have a big awakening coming. Thank you for your comment. Do the best for yourself and your family.

  12. This week in a shop I had to pass two elderly ladies who had a rather loud conversation. In this situation I think masks would have helped in stopping them having that conversation or in producing less air particles.
I don't think masks will guarantee a 100% safety. But I do believe that all the rules (social distancing, masks, quarantine etc.) together can make a difference.
And I wear a mask in shops also out of respect for the staff who have to wear them all day. I can put it it off after a short period of grocery shopping.
I don't mind if some people don't wear a mask because for some reason they can't. But I see a lot of people don't wear them and I don't think they all have good reasons for that.
I live in the densely populated area in Holland. At the moment a corona hotspot.
Keep on walking! Keeps you healthy, fysically and mentally. I'll do the same. Have a nice day🌸

  13. I don't wear a mask as I have breathing problems and so does my husband. I had to take him to the hospital this morning for a scan on his leg and went into the coffee place while I waited. There were lots of people walking outside wearing the masks given by the hospital and they were nearly all bulged out at the side so the air could get out without being filtered. What a waste of money. My husband, who is a retired nurse, agreed with the youtube video. I see round here in Norwich a lot of people do wear masks but why doesn't it stop flu if it stops Covid 19.

    1. I went to town today. People wearing masks in the street, around their chins, under their nose, pulled down while they were smoking, they looked filthy. I wonder if anyone washes their mask every day? I doubt it.
