Another British Drama.

I'm not sure if I should be sitting here on a Saturday morning watching another film. I have plenty of other things to do. I was drawn into this within the first five minutes. Stopped it halfway, made another mug of coffee and cut a slice of cake. One of the joys of living alone, you can do what you like.
I will put it here, but be warned, it is raw and emotional, and you will need a box of tissues. If you are not in the mood for this, skip it and move on.
Once again, great acting from Timothy Spall, and Belinda Blethyn, and their co star Rebekah.
Drama based on real events. Bill and Wendy Ainscow (Timothy Spall and Brenda Blethyn) are a middle class, middle-aged Birmingham couple locked in a deeply dysfunctional relationship with their 32-year-old daughter Lisa (Rebekah Staton). In a culmination of years spent unsuccessfully trying to obtain a diagnosis and get state help to deal with with Lisa's condition - which eventually turns out to be Asperger's syndrome - Bill and Wendy are ultimately driven to desperate measures with tragic consequences.

  1. This looks wonderful Ilona - I love British Dramas & I don't mind raw & emotional either. I shall get the tissues ready! Thanks for recommending this.

    1. I felt a little bit drained after watching it. The dysfunctional family scenario is being played out in a lot of households throughout the world. Watching this story is truly enlightening. One could almost view it as part of a much wider course of psychological study.

  2. My husband adores Brenda. He'll be looking for it.

    1. She is a great actor. I don't think they use the term actress any more, all things being equal.

    1. Now I have watched a couple of these British films, the algorithms are throwing a lot more at me. I will save them up for future viewing on cold dark nights.
