We went to the Scrapstore.

Good evening. The days events. This morning I went to Crafty Club as usual. It was party time as birthday celebrations were underway, and Jan opened her presents. I couldn't stay for the whole session as I had arranged to go to the Scrapstore at Hull. I had had a clear out and took some of my art, and other stuff I had accumulated, to donate back to them. Angela came with me as she wanted to buy some fabric for her upholstery projects. She had also had a sort out and donated two bags of fabric that she didn't want. It's a bit like a swap shop, you can buy crafting supplies from them, but also pass stuff on to them when you no have no further use for it.
I wasn't intending to buy anything, but no harm in looking eh! Oh dear, I spent £7. I was drawn towards the colours. Some bits and bobs to make another mandala I think. I bought a hoop as well.
Now what can I do with these. Small offcut circles, probably from an upholstery factory. They are a bit ugly but with some fancy stitching they could turn into something quite amazing, I think. 😎

They have a lot of boxes, possibly hundreds, nay thousands, of masks. I picked up a box of 50 and wondered what I might make with them. Now there's a challenge better get my thinking cap on. I wonder how many of these have been disposed off. I read somewhere that tons of them were incinerated. I wonder how much money the Government wasted. I hate them, never wore one. The label says on the box. . . . Warning, this mask does not eliminate the risk of contracting any disease or infection. There you go, and people wore them religiously. They are single use, remember how people had them on all day.  This box was produced in April 2020, it had a shelf life of two years. I wonder how many container loads of these were shipped over from China. Anyway, my task is to think of an idea of what I can do with them.

It's starting to get dark a bit earlier now. 9.15pm and the hedgehog food is out. I am getting at least three of them coming every night. So cute to watch.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona
PS. Just checked before I press publish.
Three on the lawn right now munching away. You can hear their little teeth crunching the dry kitten food.

  1. Hi Ilona, I can’t wait to see what you create using the masks! I work at a hospital and during COVID we had to comply with PPE, gowns, gloves, specially fitted medical masks and goggles which were disposed of in between each new patient visit. The waste would have been incredible and yes I still got COVID. I was forced to get the jab otherwise I would have lost my job. I then had to have the second one, after that I didn’t get any more, two was too many., I’m hoping I remain healthy with no long term harm from the jabs. As always I love reading your blog with such a lovely variety to read. Keep on keeping on. Fi from Australia 🇦🇺

    1. Hello Fi. Good to hear from you. My friend also had the first two jabbys, because her husband wanted to go on holiday, and they had to get them to fly. Another friend didn't have any like me, although her husband did. They are all still fine. You will probably be fine. The jabbys were not all the same, different batch numbers from different countries. There is a lot more information available now. A lot depends on the general health of those who took it. Sadly the adverse reactions reported on the VAERS system are in their hundreds of thousands. The people affected should be paid compensation for their injuries. Thank you for sticking with me, I'm glad you find something of interest.

  2. I worked in a hospital as admin during Co nvid. As an asthmatic I had to fight with OH to be allowed to wear a face shield instead. They finally agreed but I had to wear a mask in the corridor but a face shield in the office. Ridiculous. I never wore a face mask in shops or anywhere outside work. Just kept my distance from people. . Guess what? I never caught Convid. To this day.

    1. I'm pleased to hear that Linda. The whole thing was ridiculous. I had two weeks of feeling very tired, when it had almost fizzled out. No sticking a swab up my nose. I wore my exempt lanyard with pride, ready to show people who challenged me. No one ever did.
