Mental health

 Swindon Advertiser

This is the moment Mickey Johnson attacked a passing pensioner unprovoked after getting annoyed that the 'library was noisy'. The 37-year-old caused several injuries in his horrendous act. More in the comments

Distressing video warning. Caught on camera. Listen to his explanation of why it happened.
Be aware of your surroundings when walking about in any town centre.

Don't amble around the shops, keep your wits about you. Shopping used to be a pleasurable leisure activity, it isn't any more. Walk with a purpose, go to the shop where you intended to buy something, then leave.

This is an incident which prompts people to shop online and get your shopping delivered to your door.

Don't become a prisoner in your own home. Assess the risks as you walk about.

  1. Like you assess the risks when you go ambling round the deserted countryside without any sort of protection at all, often remote from any properties where you could call for help. Worries me sick.

  2. Times have changed and that is for sure. This morning, I had some errands to run and I always plan out the route and the order of operation: Pick up a birthday card at Target, pick up a new door lock at the hardware warehouse, and get gas (petrol). At all three places today, there were 'incidents' that I was aware of: the guy loitering near my (locked) car while I pumped gas, the guy loitering and watching shoppers from between parked cars at the hardware store and so on. I am American but my mum was English and she had a cottage in the beautiful countryside but it terrified me to walk around those wooded country lanes, I found it sinister. I would much rather take my chances in the Los Angeles concrete jungle LOL
