Hello. A couple of people mentioned that my Summer House is in the Waitrose Weekend newspaper, thank you both for that. Curiosity got the better of me, and as we don't have a branch of that supermarket here, I had to take a trip over the bridge to Willerby near Hull to pick up a copy. I combined it with a visit to The Ropewalk art gallery in Barton, to take a look at their latest exhibitions. They had some lovely coloured hand made glassware on display, with another artist showing original knitted cushions at a mere snip of £50 each, cough cough, I'll pass on that.
Here is the picture. No credit for the photographer, the sponsor of Shed of the Year, or me. A few pages further on is a short article about the competition, cobbled together from other newspaper reports. Looks quite good, but it's a shame that the first two letters of my name above the heart are hidden. I wouldn't recommend shopping at Waitrose, everything I normally buy is more expensive than anywhere else.
I've been busy with this sign today, I want to put it up on a lamp post tomorrow morning on the High street where everyone will see it. I deliberately didn't put a time and date on it so that it can be used again if we have more art exhibitions in the Village Hall on a Sunday. The details are on other smaller posters scattered around the village.Steamed veg for dinner tonight and it's about ready, so I'll go and remove it from the hob and dish it up before it turns to mush. Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon.
Toodle pip.
The shed looks fab in the magazine Ilona. But it is amazing in real life so I'm not sure why we are surprised about that-Ofcourse it looks good. Because it is good!! It's a shame it isn't credited to you. I don't shop in waitrose so wouldn't have picked that up,xxxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute shed, I love it, wish I had one here in Tennessee. Life has been...demanding for a while, reading postings from my favorite bloggers is a joyful part of the day.
ReplyDeleteVirginia
We all need joy in our lives, Virginia. Hope your troubles are soon resolved.
DeleteDid you notice the R in "Art" is backwards? Just saying. Still love your blog.
ReplyDeleteRobin from Portland Oregon.
Well it certainly made you take notice, didn't it, ha ha. I hope it draws people's attention to it as they are walking by.
DeleteIt was the VH had me stumped for a while... I love your thinking about using the sign again at some point.
DeleteHi Cherie. The Village Hall is a focal point in the village and the lamp post is not far from it. Also I was thinking it is close to 'Art at the V & A'. Besides, I didn't want to paint such a long word as exhibition, and it wouldn't have fitted onto the narrow sign.
DeleteYour shed brightens up the magazine for sure. It looks great. The sign is yet more of your fabulous work. I don't know where you get your ideas from. I wish I had such creativity. I'm ploughing on with my miles and am determined to catch up by the end of the month. X
ReplyDeleteHah, you should get in touch with Waitrose and suggest a few vouchers might be in order for featuring YOUR shed without your permission or knowledge...!
ReplyDeleteHi. Now that's a good idea. I was going to drop them an email complaining anyway. Your suggestion might just work.
DeleteYes I love how the photo of your shed has been lit. Great sign.
ReplyDeleteHi. He was a good photographer. You can see the extra light on the floor, just inside the door to the right hand side.
DeleteI am sure you will get your sought after fame and accolades when you win the competition as I expect you will (and should).
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime perhaps being mellow to those who fill up their pages with your work might be more beneficial long term than stamping your feet at them. The media can either be friendly or a bitter foe.
Idid notice that Waitrose hadn't mentioned your name either under the picture or inside in the cobbled-together article. Glad you had managed to find a copy.
ReplyDeleteVery cheeky of Waitrose to not credit you or the photographer and just using the photograph without permission (although can't say I'm surprised, unfortunately) hope they make it up to you with some freebies Ilona!
ReplyDeleteThe photograph is lovely by the way, and the summer house is gorgeous! You are very talented:)
