Hello. At last I have made a frame for this picture. It's been hanging around for months, I've been playing around with it, changing bits of it, adding things, now I've done enough and it's framed.
I've daubed paint on it, and added more stitching.
The mountain colours have been toned down with paint and needle felting, and beads added. The clouds have disappeared under splodges of blue paint.
The frame is four pieces of wood I removed from an arm chair when I was dismantling it for disposal. I've made it this shape to give the impression of looking at the view through a window. I've sanded the wood but not varnished it, I don't think it needs it. The fabric is stretched over a board and fixed at the back, it drops into the recess of the frame. I haven't put glass in it, it's already quite heavy without. One thing I have forgot is to add my name at the bottom. I will stitch that into it, though it would have been easier to do that first. I forgot in my haste to get it framed.
Glad that's done at last. It looks pretty good. Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon.

That is really excellent.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, you have such good arty ideas
ReplyDeleteStunning detail in your picture, something different to see each time you look at it.The frame is a lovely idea as well,it does indeed look as if you are gazing through a window. You have a real arty talent Ilona, it must be so rewarding to complete work like this.

Hello Ilona, love the picture, I especially like the detail of the buildings and the different trees. a quick question- what does the red stitching represent- my thought is the route of one of your walks ? thanks Lorraine
ReplyDeleteHi Lorraine. The red represents paths to the top. Choose which one you want to take.
DeleteWonderful again.

You are becoming the New Grandma Moses but in textile vs paint. It's quite lovely - beautiful blending of colors and medium. Frame does enhance the view, so to speak. There is much to see - this is why it takes time to appreciate art. There are things missed the first and maybe the second time. One has to study it to take it all in. Very well done. Ranee (MN) USA
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Ilona love all those little houses and other details, also the frame is brilliant and woukd gave cost a lot of pennies to buy.
ReplyDeleteAre you putting it in the art exhibition?

Loving this lovely scene - it always amazes me how much tiny detail you put into your pictures, which really finishes them off beautifully. I don't think your frame needs any varnish. Looking forward to Saturday :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lesley. If it is raining we will be in the church. See you soon.
DeleteIt's beautiful
ReplyDeleteYou are clever. E.
WOW
ReplyDeleteI love it.
Amazing....
I like your art because it is innovative and not bound by stupid rules. That is what creativity can be but so often isn't because people are too busy doing things the way other people do them and feeling that is what they have to do. You just do it your way, with great effect.
ReplyDeleteIlona, it is just wonderful! I hope you don't mind (but if you do, please let me know and I will take it down ASAP) I just had to share your creation and blog with our online crafty stitching group over at Tuesday Stitchers tast2012.blogspot.com And please feel free to edit or delete this comment if you wish.
