Out of date? Not a problem.

Hello. That's another little job done with a handy tester pot of paint. I have a collection now of these colourful pots. It all helps to brighten up the garden.
No, not a packet of brains, or a bag of string. I can get vacuum pack noodles from the Cash and Carry, four of these for 30p. they are out of date of course, but that's not a problem. They're handy for knocking up a quick meal.

I've just scoffed this, it will keep me going until my next meal at around 5 or 6 pm. Sliced mushrooms, tail end of a cucumber, handful of baby spinach, cooked in oil for a few minutes. Add spices and a packet of noodles, and cook for a few minutes more. Blimey, I'm stuffed.

I need to go to town now so I'll buzz off. we'll catch up soon.
Toodle pip.

  1. Hello Ilona. I am having great trouble with the"Thousand Miles in a Year" web site. I can't get past Amy's comment on 2nd of May so I can't see if you have received any totals (including mine) for May. All there is at the bottom of the page is an instruction to load more comments but when I tap the command it just freezes on "loading".
Please can you solve this for me or tell me how to do so. Thanks Sue.

    1. Hi. I've had a look and you are right, the comments stop at Amy's on the 2nd of May. I have clicked loading more, and nothing happens. I think it has something to do with Blogger changing the mechanics of it now it is part of Google. I am reluctant to mess around with the settings in case I muck things up, and to be honest I don't understand it.

You don't actually need to read the comments on that page, you can be sure that I get all the updates into my Pending box, wherever they come in from. I write them in a note pad when they arrive, and update the page when I have several.

If I find out more I'll let you know.

    2. Thanks for your reply. I thought it was me being stupid!
Sorry there appears to be a problem. I'm sure your resourcefulness will work something else eventually but I agree that it would be tragic to loose all the data. I wonder if the site will only allow a limited number of comments for each post. Good luck, Sue.

  3. I've never had, or thought of, cooked cucumber. Do you recommend it? Karen

    1. Hi. If you've got some that needs using up you can add it to any dish you are cooking. It stays crunchy if you add it late into the pan. Just tastes like warm cucumber. If you have any lettuce that needs eating, you can add that as well. Think outside the box, cook any fruit or veg or salad in a meal on the hob. I add apples to stew sometimes.

    2. Thanks Ilona, I must remember that. I've had cooked lettuce before, it was surprisingly tasty.

  4. I love the shade of blue you have painted that pot with Ilona, looks lovely and summery.
Also, the meal looks delicious, as all your meals do :) eating out of date food doesn't bother me either - if it looks and smells fine, then it's all good!
