Smelly bits

Hello. Any time I come across a minor problem it is my wish to solve it. I am of the opinion that all problems are solvable, if ideas are not forthcoming early on in the thought process, they will surely emerge later when almost all options have been dismissed. And so it is that I have put much thought into the solving of this problem.
I mentioned that I cut my wash sponges in half, because they last longer, all well and good. You can use a whole sponge to clean the whole of your body, but that might not be very hygienic as the sponges become a tad smelly with use. So my idea of cutting them in half alleviates that problem because you can use half of it to wash the non smelly bits and the other half to wash the smelly bits, if you get my drift.
Well that's solved that problem then. Well not quite. If the two halves look the same, how do you know which is the one designated for the smelly bits? Erm  I don't know. Could sniff them I suppose. I'm going to have to give this more thought.
Brainwave, they need to have a mark that identifies which sponge is to be used for the corresponding parts of the body. Of course, why didn't I think of that before. So, with my permanent marker I have solved the problem. It all makes sense to me.

If you have any problems which you are struggling with, just ask me. It might just need a logical brain to come up with the answer. Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

  1. Did make me chuckle, as someone with a skin lurgy , nothing contagious just endlessly annoying , I have to boil sponges after every use, trouble is I cut up loads and like odd socks they seem to end up everywhere.

  3. you could always buy two different coloured sponges and use half each for different body parts. I prefer to use a muslin cloth for my face and never use it anywhere else and they wash easy.

  4. I boil my sponges in a big saucepan along with my flannels.

  5. Am I being thick ? probably ! but havn't you marked each half with the same letter for different parts? For the horses we have the same problem but mark them "head" and "tail".

  7. As said, different coloured sponges in future for different bits. In the meantime thread a piece of light string through one of them to do certain bits to differentiate. Hope that helps. Also could dye one sponge with turmeric (in your cupboard) to help as well. Amanda

  11. One of my Xmas presents a couple of years ago from my eldest was a pink and white towel - pink at one end, white at the other with the 2 F words emblazoned at each end!😅

  13. I presume its face and fanny. Here in the UK fanny means something different (if only by a couple of inches)

  14. Wow! Of course the rest of my comment was slightly off topic, but trying to show how the US and UK are separated by the same language and social norms. Remember this was in the 60s and 70s. I didn't mean to offend anyone, but just to show how a word might be completely innocuous in one country can be deeply offensive in another. Why censor that? I'm truly astounded that you felt the need to modify my comment. Surely replies to your blog should encourage people to examine and question what goes on in their world. It wasn't as if I was putting anyone down, but just observing the differences between cultures. If you don't allow comments that expand on your post, then why post at all? Are you just looking for comments that say, 'how funny' and 'I can really relate to what you're saying' I've been leaving comments on my favourite blogs for over 11 years, and I've never had a reaction like yours. I am deeply upset and perplexed.

    1. Slightly off topic is an understatement, it was wildly off topic. My post today was a tongue in cheek bit of humour, that's all, nothing more. There was no need to expand on it, there was nothing in it to expand on, it was a joke.

  15. Yes, we all got that it was a joke, but the serious point I was trying to make is how easy it is to offend people from different cultures. I probably went way OT in my reaction , but I was honestly trying to show how cultural differences can cause over the top reactions. (Take this exchange for example) But unfortunately in this day and age we have to watch everything we say and do. Thank goodness you've reached the point where you can see that such an innocuous remark can backfire. This is the way the world is now, and I wish it wasn't. At least I got a reaction and maybe made some of your followers something to think about (except, of course, they didn't see my comment that you censored) I won't contact you again. I have always enjoyed your blog and I would very much like to read it in the future , and I promise I won't comment publicly again. I'm sorry if I've caused you any upset, but I'm an old lady, and I don't like the way the world is going. Apologies and Blessings to you and your followers.

    1. Thank you for explaining. I don't think any of us oldies like the way the world is going, but we have to live with it. I used the 'off topic', reason for moderating your comment, when in truth, I could see that your points about cultural differences, was turning into a rant. There was a strong possibility of a full scale bun fight erupting, and I don't want that here.

My blog is about my life, it is not a forum for any subject to be discussed unless I have instigated it. I don't mind people joining in and keeping on topic.

I hope that has cleared up some of the confusion. Don't worry about it, move on.

  16. As I am not a native speaker, I had to think about it for a while! But as it was clear it´s a joke, I came up with the right solution without spying on the comments. It is really funny, this could easily have happened to me. I think I will use it in my English lesson today. Thank you for a good laugh and a good idea!

  18. Well - I found it really funny and I love your sense of fun and "tongue in cheek-ness" and I'm no spring chicken, either. Just a bit of a rude old bird, truth be told!
