Hello. It's that time again, the first of the month when I hand over this page to the Walking Group, who check in with their miles for the previous months. I'm leaving it up to you to do a running total, so if you could post your miles for January and February here, I will be well chuffed. You can come back to this post at any time if you miss it today, this is where we all chat about how we are doing with our own personal challenges.
Here is my chart, I finished off tonight with two miles to make it a round two hundred. You can see I missed three days, but made it up by doing extra on other days. I have a two and a three mile walk around my village, that can give me 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 miles. On the day I did 8 miles, I added an extra bit onto it and walked a bit further.
We are two months into it now, those who did it last year will be a picture of health and feeling pretty darn good. If you started this year, you should be feeling a bit better, the longer you do it the fitter you become. Don't expect miracles, don't give up because you think it isn't making any difference to your fitness levels. It will come if you give it time. If you have fallen behind a bit, give yourself a kick up the backside, and make up your mind to get stuck in. Make March the month you will succeed. No matter how much I nag you, ultimately it's down to you.Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

Only 54 miles this month I'm afraid, due to illness and life getting in the way.

Hopefully I will get a better total in March. Main thing is to keep at it I think!

Sorry, I forgot to check in at the end of January - My total for the year to date is 246 miles :)

Hi Ilona, total for the year to date is 166 miles. I hope to do better when my favourite woodland walk is a little less muddy.

Hi everyone, just over 104 miles walked in February making a total of 235 so far this year. Not as good as last year but still plenty of time to equal last year's achievement over 12 months. Thanks Ilona.
ReplyDeleteAmy in Florida -- I have many more miles on the bike!! But, my walking total for February is 43.55 and running total is 87.15. I will up my walks to 4 and above to try and get more miles! Thanks for the inspiration, Ilona. Love this challenge.
ReplyDeleteThis is a response to your previous post. Having read about the Everest climber, I had a look on YouTube for treks to Everest Base Camp. There are lots! We were thrilled because a relative of ours is doing this trek in April. It was really interesting to see what it will be like for him.
ReplyDeleteRegarding your upcoming walk - have you thought about doing the Coast to Coast path? I've just been reading the two Yorkshire Shepherdess books, and want to walk in her part of the world as soon as I can. But first I have to undergo a hip replacement at the end of the month, and who knows how fit I will be after that?
What a great thing to do to keep records of your mileage and sharing it with everyone else. Think I might start keeping a note. I walk 2 miles to work each day (apart from weekends)and 2 miles home (one week). I like to do 2 miles per day on my exercise bike - does this count?
ReplyDeleteI walk everyday ...with my dog mostly. Just wondering if any of your group use a pedometer to measure distance ? If so are they fairly accurate for recording how far you walk ? My reason for asking is that I'm mostly going across fields & public foot paths etc which are not easily mapped out for distance.....sometimes I just follow my dog and he's not checking distances at all! Rae x P.s My admiration goes out all the group...well done.

I have managed 113 miles for February making a total of 225 miles so far. There has been plenty of walking into town (a round trip of 6 miles) to do bits of shopping etc which saves on petrol and is a pleasant walk. ReplyDeleteHello Ilona. Checking in for Wences with a total of 331 miles so far. Although during February our weather was very cold here in the north of Spain, the days were mainly dry and sunny, so he managed more miles than in January. Wishing everyone a lovely March.

ReplyDeleteOnly 35 miles this month but again we had a nasty snow storm so more slipping and sliding than walking. Well the weather is turning nicer so hopefully I'll get my numbers up in March.

ReplyDeleteA measly 28.1 miles for February, running total 62.5. My blood pressure's been scary high this month. The doctor's adding another med to my daily dose. Fingers-crossed it helps.

ReplyDeleteSorry for delay reporting in Ilona, I've done 50, not brilliant but I've done what I can within the time I have available. Feeling positive for March and as I like to walk early in the morning I think it will get easier for me as the mornings become lighter (and warmer, hopefully!).
