Cushions and cat beds.

Hello. That's another job done, the duvet which was passed to me, is now ten cushions and six cat beds, like mini quilts. I used every bit of the quilt, and I had some stuffing from another donation of lumpy cushions which I used to add a bit more bounce to these cushions.
The covers can be removed from the cushions and washed, the brown fabric was donated, from a blog reader I think. People give me stuff and I can't remember where it came from, but it all gets used or passed on to the ladies in the Crafty Club. The patterned cushion covers were a curtain which I no longer required.

The cat beds are covered in donated fabric. They can be put in the washing machine as they are.

I've made a little video showing a few other things I have made from recycled materials.

I'm glad that jobs done, I'll drop the cushions off at the church in the morning. Now I can move on to another crafty project.

Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

  2. Well done Ilona you have been busy and I am sure the cushions will be appreciated by the parishioners and hope the cat beds sell well. Llike you I get lots of items given to me and I feel bad when I use it and cannot remember where it has come from. I have spent the weekend making charity quilts.

    Have a good week.

  5. What wonderful cat beds and cushions! I have used old duvets myself to make dog beds, as we have dogs that love to destroy theirs.

  10. I've had a busy weekend here at home, have just finished a rag rug using old duvet covers and curtains quite impressed considering it's my first attempt.niw onto a patchwork denim picnic rug which is made out of different colour jeans and skirts,it's backed with an old shower curtain. It's coming together very quickly although quite tough on the old fingers when cutting the squares out, still for pennies I can put up with that.well done with all your efforts I love the towel rail picture

  15. I've been following your blog for several years now and I have to say that I'm very impressed by how focused, organized, diligent and creative you are - and you are always very positive and cheerful. Too bad we can't bottle some Ilona Sauce for people to put on their food. I can't think of anyone I know personally who accomplishes so much and who has such a positive attitude; you eat healthy, get plenty of exercise, do those wonderful walks all over England, take care of your house and your garden, built a great summerhouse in the backyard, make loads of shopping bags from free fabric as well as many many other great projects, give your time to animals in need, run this blog ( a lot of work!), make videos, show people how to save money and be frugal - I could go on and on. Take your left hand and give your right shoulder a pat because you've earned it. I plan to be logging onto your blog and youtube channels for the next 30 years (I'm 3 years younger than you) and I hope you're still giving us all such wonderful advice, inspiration and good cheer.

  20. I do hope that more people will take on board what you have said in the video. I love to make something out of nothing there's a sense of achievement.
The T shirt rug, the towel rack picture and the cat food bags are my favourite.
What's next Ilona, whatever people might say, you are never dull.

  22. Love reading your blog, it is amazing what you can do with other people's castoffs. I did my "Ilona shop" yesterday and for just under £5 we will eat very well for this week. I even got fresh beef mince to cook for Ben, enough for 4 weeks for just under £2.

  23. Especially love the mesh rug which had the old fabric pulled through with a crochet hook; my mother did this decades ago with worn out material from shirts/dresses/tea towels etc etc; the lovely thing was that the rug had great memories and was so colourful.
