Hello. Just when you think you are troll free, up pops another nasty comment. I have to admit I laughed when I saw it, the way people get their knickers in a twist is a source of amusement for me. It's been quiet for a while on the troll front, but something I said on the previous post must have touched a nerve. The words sanctimonious, entitled, perfect, and gloating were included in the comment. At least they were able to stick to only one mildly sweary word, but I did sense the bitterness in the tone of it.
I won't bother publishing it, because this person clearly has some issues. I just hope that one day they are able to find some clarity and peace in their life. It's wasted energy when someone feels the need to attack another just because they haven't had a particularly easy life themselves. It's like they blame others for all their problems, when they should be focusing on making the best of the situation they find themselves in.
Again, going back to the message from yesterday, it's about choices. Anger is a destructive trait, I choose not to be angry, so in the trolls eyes that makes me sanctimonious. It's funny that troll says, 'entitled yellow stickers'. I have said many times that there is very little that I am entitled to, and yellow stickers isn't one of them. 'Knowing that you are perfect', another quote. I know full well that I am not perfect. I make mistakes, but at least I don't go onto other people's blogs and slag them off.
This person has vowed not to come back. I'm glad they have made that choice for themselves if they are not happy with what they read here. I would hate to think that my words are going to send their blood pressure through the roof. A good decision.
Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up later, everyone except the troll that is.

I think what you're doing is brilliant and I wish you all the best in your frugality! Best wishes, Lizzie from the West Midlands.
ReplyDeletewhat a sad world we live in. life's hard for all of us, in different ways, at different times. i can't see why someone should feel the need to troll others. i don't always agree with everything i read on blogs, but who cares; life would be boring if we were all exactly the same.
ReplyDeleteWell said, who cares if you don't agree with someone's blog? Even if you don't agree, it's food for thought, but some folk feel the need to set the Internet straight. Daft, IMO. Karen
DeleteI just don't get it. If they have such a problem, why the hell are there here in the first place? I have no idea what anyone could take exception to, unless they're so twisted they make things up in their tiny brains. I guess they must do.
ReplyDeleteYou can 'choose' to be offended by just about anything these days! Its not sanctimonious or gloating to explain your life philosophy on your own blog.
ReplyDeleteI love your attitude. It is such a struggle to go against the consumer tidal wave sometimes. Took me way too long to realize that the act of buying does not make me happy but that feeling has to come from within. Ana USA
ReplyDeleteThis person is jealous of you, maybe they suffer from lack of confidence or perhaps they secretly wish they were you - who knows. My advice to your troll would be to stop the hating and read Ilona's words and you will learn. I have said it before but this blog has really helped me become a different and happier person. Thank you Ilona. Sharon
ReplyDeleteI'm very much looking forward to hearing about your upcoming walking expedition, Ilona. Maybe you should fashion some shoulder pads to take along, as I've noticed you tend to have aches from the rucksack straps :) Kind regards, Eilidh x
ReplyDeleteThis troll has an odd obsession with you...I wonder what it is that triggers her insecurities. Thanks for inspiring me to do better and think differently.
ReplyDeleteThat troll is probably jealous - spending left right and centre, no social life, nothing of interest in their lives etc. Don't even give him/her a second thought. Natalie
ReplyDeleteWell good on you Ilona ! I love reading your blog and have gained so much from your life stories that you so generously share. It is sad to know that there are a select few who have no respect for the good you do. Thank you for sharing parts of your life and for giving hope. Lisa J. Australia.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog - it's interesting, down to earth and always optimistic. You help me to feel better about the world. Thank you Ilona.
ReplyDeleteBest, Sally x
I think us readers of this blog are a happy crowd who obviously enjoy Ilona's words and passing on tips. In short, if you don't like what she says, don't follow her. I don't agree with everyone all of the time but would never be offensive. As mentioned by Eilidh above, am really looking forward to seeing where you are visiting next. Amanda
ReplyDeleteI think I know who this is. She frequently blogs about "entitlement " so you don't really have to be Miss Marple to work it out! Take no notice. In my opinion, this person is a know it all, constantly changing her mind, and really f no consequence xx
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you realize the troll's comments are about their own struggles and issues, not really about you at all! You are as far from sanctimonious as anyone I know, refreshingly real and healthily far from perfect like the rest of us. I'm sorry for whatever problems are causing that person to lash out and sorry they lashed out at you but am glad you know to let it go. Best to you, Ilona, and keep brightening the lives of others with your strong spirit and quirky personality! I enjoy your blog very much. Becky in US
ReplyDeleteI read your blog daily. I love reading about your adventures and I think you are GREAT. Keep on keeping on and f**k the troll. I go 'yellow sticker shopping' always thanks to you! :D
ReplyDeleteBecause you have a life which is creative, positive and not stuck in a rut the troll will come back. A troll is a dark ugly creature that lives in the dark avoiding the light. Keep that light shining bright. Some of us look at your blog and become inspired and have that feel good factor after the read. Post the trolls comments. I always wanted to be a Troll Hunter.
ReplyDeleteI'm just wondering what trolls did before we had the internet, how did they did get their kicks ? Would it be heavy breathing down the phone or playing tricks on someone ? So sad. Rae x
ReplyDeleteWell said Rae, these people need to be ignored, you can't reason with them. They will get bored and shut up. Ilona doesn't deserve this rubbish, she's hurting no-one, living her life and sharing her thoughts and tips for a healthy stress-free life - says it all really. Amanda
DeleteSorry you are having troll trouble again, he/she must very unhappy to plague people like you who are trying to live a good, encouraging life and help others. Looking forward to where you walk on your next trip.

I have been bullied and I've looked into it and they like to bully people they are jealous of in some way. They like to hide so they can get away with it - the victim has to be strong and speak out(.They don't like that.)It's to big themselves up,because they feel insufficient, lacking what you have-shame! their problem! jealously eats them up x
DeleteTroll shmroll. Your blog, as well as two others I frequent, help me feel I am not alone. I want as simple a life as possible--as simple as you can have with a house full of kids, that is, and you help me remember that I don't need to justify my contentment to others, even my children. Aaaand, "toodle pip" has become a family phrase which means that discussion has ended. It's quite funny to hear my teen/tweens use it on one another.
ReplyDeleteSome people just like to revel in their debt/poverty and not actually deal with their issue's that is why he/she feel it necessary to 'have a go at you'.
ReplyDeleteThought you may like this blog

Just keep doing what you are doing it gives me pleasure to read and learn from what you say x
ReplyDeleteOh no not again! I've just returned from my holiday and read about the silly troll woman.I wonder if she is aware that if her job requires a regular enhanced CRB(nowDBS) check-Harassement would show up-Rock on Ilona x
ReplyDeleteGood for you Ilona.
ReplyDeleteSome people are so bitter. The best is to ignore them as you did.
I too have said this before but you were the teacher this student needed when I retired from full time work last year. I love your attitude to life and creative way of living on a pension. I only wish I had this attitude when I was earning a good salary but to every season there is a time! I look foward to your blog every day. More power to your elbow dear Ilona. Linda, South Devon
ReplyDeleteVery well said Ilona I enjoy reading your blog thanks
ReplyDeletePersonally I always feel sorry for trolls, they must feel so angry, bitter and very unhappy inside to try and make others unhappy too. It must feel dreadful to be a troll, poor sad individuals. Not that it gives them any right to pour their venom on others mind, but just saying.
ReplyDeleteI feel the troll thinks you get all this attention and wants to be just like you
