Happy New Year. My message for 2018

Hello. That's it then, the last few hours of 2017. I won't do a looking back thingy, I've forgotten most of it already, ha ha. From what I remember, I've had a pretty good year, holidays, going out, everything has been pretty much hunkydory, apart from one sadness when the Best Cat in the World, sadly came to the end of his life, in January. Bugsy gave me 20 wonderful years of happiness and love, I couldn't have wished for a better, more fabulous, feline friend.

I won't waffle on as I expect you want to get on and party the New Year in. I love a brand spanking sparkly, shining, new year. I get a feeling in my bones that this one will be the best ever. I've made a little video for you, so pour yourself a little tipple, and celebrate the new year with me. By the way, I shall probably be in the land of nod by the time the clock strikes midnight. I've got a whiskey and cranberry juice in my glass, and that's bound to send me to sleep.

A quick reminder. Walking group members should check in tomorrow with your total miles for the year. Let's give everybody a big cheer for making it to the end. If you are joining in for 2018 please post a comment on the same post (Jan 1st) we would love to have you in our group. Newbies and oldbies welcome.

A very Happy New Year to all my blog readers, from me and the pussies, Heidi and Mayze. Let's do it all again in 2018.

  5. Happy New Year Ilona! I have loved reading your posts and watching the videos throughout 2017. You remind me of my lovely spirited nan who is sadly no longer with us but who would have agreed with you on so many things - using every last drop of everything up before buying new, buying YS reduced items (I used to cringe when she did this when I was with her but now I do it all the time!), using unconventional things in the garden and making a nice spot to sit and enjoy the sun in, the love of a good walk in the countryside, 'doing your own thing' and not following the crowd and just generally enjoying life. Here's to more fun and frugal frolics in 2018. Love to you and your lovely cats xx

  6. Hi Ilona - happy New Year! I hope you have a great 2018 and looking forward to reading about your escapades!

My friend introduced me to your blog a few days ago - I think it's great and must say you are an inspiration to someone like me who has always struggled with managing their money - always wanting the new must have clothes make up etc. You have helped me to see there is another way. My priorities for this year are to cut down my debt and spend more time with people I enjoy being with xx

  25. Good video with great advice. So glad you will continue to blog. I enjoy your advice on staying healthy, shopping, saving, enjoying life, and seeing all your crafts. Must admit I especially enjoy your videos and hearing your English accent. My dad was born and raised in England and so many of your 'sayings' remind me of him. He came to America at 31years. 40. Hi Ilona, good advice as always. I don't celebrate New Years Eve, I am grateful for all the good things that happened in 2017 and a new year ahead full of the unknown. I simply cannot sit up that late as I am a morning person and like to do my walk as the sun rises. It's New Year's Day here in Australia but I guess I should wait until tomorrow to state my intent to join your walking challenge. Happy New Year Ilona. Lisa J. Tasmania, Australia.

  43. Happy New Year Ilona and all readers. Great video, how important health is, without health life is miserable. Reading this blog my life has changed so much, as Ilona says MY life and how I want to live, without worrying what others think. I also had embarrassment of yellow sticker food. (What would cashier think). One cashier actually helped me telling me reductions are 75% off at 6.30pm. At local co-op. Was working to top up my pension, but as time goes on I may be able to live on the pension!!! What a revelation and will try in 2018. Fitness, health, pension, knitting and fresh air with my new pup (who has not a care). Animals are also great, it is people who can be stressful. Elaine xx

  50. Happy New Year and have a wonderful 2018! I've only been reading your blog for a few months, and it helps to keep me on track and mindful about saving money. I've pledged to walk 500km this year. I don't know if your walking club has flexible rules? But that's a distance that's more suitable for my situation.
    Take care!
