Check in day for the walking group. 1st September

Good morning, an early post today, it's check in day for the International Walking Group. I have been slacking a bit, too busy with other things, that's my excuse anyway. I darn't look at my mileage, all I can say is I'll do better next month. Still four months of the year left to go, I promise to make an effort to reach that 1000 miles.

So how are you all doing? Let's have your mileage, good or bad, fantastic or hopeless, it doesn't matter, as long as you have done some walking. Toodle pip. ilona

  1. Hello Ilona,I managed to walk only 6 kilometers in August, due to that (ever?)lasting nasty heel pain. But I pulled my bike out often and toured around my hometown and its beautiful surroundings, riding 262 kilometers in August.
Walking total so far 670 and cycling altogether in July and August 614 kilometers.
Greetings to you and all the walking group members!

  2. I was doing so well but have been advised to cut out the long walks until my groin injury is healed. I shan't be tiptoeing around the cornfields for a while. It's hardly worth me keeping a tally now so I will hobble around the block now and then but won't record it.. Hopefully I can take up the challenge again next year

  3. Congratulations on selling some more art. You well get back to walking for you have had a few very busy weeks. It's going to look at a lovely day I will just have to sit in the garden for I had a fall and blacked out and hut my leg, could be a lot worse -it will give me more time to crochet-

Good morning Ilona, I slacked off a bit during August, blaming the hot weather, only did 58 miles. The days are going to start getting cooler, however, September is a busy social month for me, so will try and do a few short walks in between engagements. Have a great weekend.

  9. Yikes, it seems like the forces of evil are out in force worldwide to slow us down in our walking efforts. Temperatures are dropping in Phoenix so it is only 80 at 5:30 am when I walk! 65 miles for the month, year to date 487. Last year I did 3 miles a day (thank you Ilona for making it possible), this year my goal is 2 miles a day plus gym time.

Happy fall walking to you Ilona and all the happy walkers!

  11. Well done everyone who's posted. As Ilona says any walking is better than none and some of you have some bad injuries at the moment.
I have done 48 this month, far less than I was aiming for. Never mind today is the start of a new target.
My total so far this year is 755. Sue

  13. Hi Ilona and everybody in the group. I challenged myself to walk 100 miles in August. In the end I managed 102. I'm very pleased with that. It means I'm about 30 miles ahead of target for this point in the year.
Enjoy your next month of walking.

  15. I’ve done 48 which is just two under my personal target of 50 miles per month. I’d like to have done more but have been caught up with various other interests and commitments. I enjoy the walking I do and remain committed to keeping going.

  16. Only 42 miles in August! I spent two weeks on the isle of Amrum, where you bike everywhere, so not much walking except on the beach.
But the 42 miles still take me to 701 miles in total, so I am within my goal.

I have been in my vegetable garden or kitchen, and never took any exercise that wasn’t of a purpose to accomplish my work. I hope to resume in October.

  25. Hi Ilona, my apologies for late reporting. My husband & I were traveling to see the son & family in California (grandchildren!) Once home there was a lot to attend to and then this “minor” Hurricane Florence! Sorry for those in the direct path impacted and yet grateful at the last it turned away from us—-up until that shift we were on target to get the same wrath as Hurricane Fran 22 years ago. That I will not forget. Yet the impact has been great on the NC coast. We are inland but originally on target, so there was lots of prep & worry. Long story and way overdue in reporting walking. And now the stats: Aug 2018 = 102 miles & total = 821.
