I thought I might as well fill the second 50p small frame while I was in the mood. I like mandalas and found one in a colouring book. I traced the outline onto greaseproof paper, then transferred it onto two pieces of yellow silk already stretched in the frame. Behind that I put a circle of thin wadding to stabilise the stitching. It's finished and I'm just about to close up the back.
Pull the gathers tight and use up the thread to stitch across the middle a few times. Next cover it up with a circle of felt.My mandala. Some of the lines were already there, but most of it I made up. I added an extra circle around the edge.
The centre is a piece from a necklace but it's a bit buried with sequins and French knots.
Heidi was on hand to supervise.
I'm really pleased with this, it looks lovely in real life.

ReplyDeleteIt is so special Ilona and I love all the tiny stitches..It would take me forever to do all that!,xx
ReplyDeleteHi Debi. Even though my specs are varifocals, I take them off to do small stitching. I hold the work closer to my face so I can put the needle precisely where I want the stitch to be.
DeleteVery nice. I'm inspired to try that. I'll be on the lookout for a similar frame. I already have the embroidery floss. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty mandala ❤️❤️❤️
