This is Billy, his owner is not able to walk him at the moment, so I have stepped in to take him out. Billy although quite small is a puller, and his mummy has a balance problem, so not a good combination. He is a rescue dog and gets quite excited when I turn up.
The arrangement is when I have got time to spare I will take him a walk. They live close by, so it's easy for me to pop round there. He is a happy chappie, but, he doesn't like big dogs and barks at them. Today we saw the postman in the street, Billy didn't like him either. So I have to be aware that I might suddenly have to make a diversion to avoid a confrontation. Other than that he is fine with most people and most dogs, small to medium.

Billy looks like he may be a Jack Russell terrier perhaps.I've had several terriers and mine are lively and strong willed. The dog trainer I saw 12 times with one advised me to keep diverting but it can at times be difficult, even telling me to hide behind a tree.It is so kind of you to take the little chap out Ilona x
ReplyDeleteThat is so good of you to help out when you can.Dogs can be hard work but so rewarding when they are trained.I hope that it all goes well for you and Billy...I bet that you have bought a bag of treats and he thinks that you are the bees knees already!,xx
ReplyDeleteI generally do have a bag of treats in my pocket, (Bakers Meaty Chunks) as most dogs know me, and don't forget. But Billy's owner said he is only allowed the treats that she gives me, small crunchy biscuits, because he has a dodgy tum.
DeleteIt sounds like Billy has found a great friend in you. I enjoy walking my dog, it is good for us too.
ReplyDeleteHe looks perfect for you Ilona.

Perfect for me because it isn't a regular commitment. He has an enclosed garden so he has access to grass and can run around there if I am not available. He is much loved by his owner.
DeleteBilly looks lovely. I used to have a Billy and he was a puller too, strong willed and full of character. X
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a perfect little character, enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHe will greet other small dogs, but mostly he is interesting in sniffing and weeing. Pull to go fast, then stop at every lamp post.
DeleteBilly looks nice and am sure you will get on fine with him. My granddaughter has a rescue dog she is looking after it until a court case is heard. Have a nice weekend everyone.

I think he is a lucky chappie to have you walking him! SueM
ReplyDeleteHe is a cute one and I bet he really needs a walk now and then. That is really nice of you to do it.
ReplyDeleteIt's convenient for me, and he enjoys it. He has a garden to play in, as well as a cosy bed in the house, and likes to look through the bars of the gate at cars and people passing by.
DeleteWhat a sweet little dog and you are very kind helping out. We have a lady named Katrina who helps us out she is arranging for someone to repair our fence which was blown down in Storm Dennis. My husband has disabilities and me too but we manage. Being kind is one of my favourite Mantras. Hope you have a lovely walk with Billy today. Lots of love to the gorgeous fur babies and you Ilona. Love Liz Amy and Benny.xxxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, love to you and your family.
DeleteIt's really good of you to help out Ilona plus he might learn from your handling. We rehomed a dog two years ago and he was a puller too but because he had not been taught, he loves everyone rather than dislikes them. It's not Billy's fault he pulls perhaps you'll be a good influence on him.
