Thursday night was shopping night

It was time to do some shopping, it's three weeks since the last Aldi visit. Time flies. I went a bit later this time because I wanted to go to Tesco after, and I thought the later the better when hopefully there wouldn't be many people about. I had vouchers for £20 which needed to be used before the end of the month.
Once again I had Aldi to myself. There were a few people in Tesco, but it's a massive store so plenty of room to social distance. It was 10.30pm when I got home.
My yooootooob subscribers like to know what I buy, so here it is.
It was quite mild today, but when I took Billy out this afternoon the wind had got up and it was a big jacket and furry hood job. I think it's going to be warmer tomorrow.
Thanks for popping in. Enjoy your weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. As an Australian I have 2 observations:

    - your prices are all so cheap compared to ours
    - everything seems to be covered in plastic. In the supermarkets here there is no plastic or bags around any fruit or vegetables.

    1. We do have markets where we can but vegetables loose. Supermarkets sell bagged fruit and veg for convenience. For easy transportation from field to shop. I know it's not pc but I prefer to choose my vegetables from bags of wrapped rather than loose where someone might have been handling it and coughing all over it.

  2. Morning! I do love your shopping videos 😁 and I was thinking of you last night when I went into Aldi. I was looking for those dips to buy as you made me fancy them. I couldn’t find them, I was frustrated, can you tell me where they are positioned in the store? I’m assuming most of their stores are laid out the same.

I have some blue cheese in the fridge & a pack of leeks left over from last week’s shopping, so will try adding some into a leek soup for flavour as you’ve suggested.

    Have a lovely day 😘

    1. The dips are in the chiller cabinet near the cheese and cooked meats.
A small piece of blue cheese will be enough, Stir it in near to the end of the cooking time.

  3. I knew that your video was on here last night, but like before Ive saved it until this morning so I can have my cup of tea while we are chatting!.Ive noticed that Aldi only do 30% off now where as they used to do 50%,but never mind as they are still alot cheaper than Tesco on a full shopping trip.It made me smile when you showed us your yellow sticker bread!.Those yellow sticker days seem so long ago as we have to have things with better dates so less visits to the shops. But still a great find for bread that you can freeze.I had broccoli and stilton soup last night with some bread with brie dipped in it.As you would say...it was delish! I needed it to warm me up as what started off as a walk around the area yesterday, ended up a 5 mile trek and I hadnt taken my big scarf with me.I usually snuggle into that as I am walking along!.Still I was pleased with the miles though! My daughter was clearing out her cupboards yesterday and brought to my door some tins of soup that my very fussy grandughters wont eat!.I gave her some pasta and rice,so thats save us both a few pennies this week!Well, its a rainy start to the day here in Leicester but the birds are still singing,so all is good!.Hope you have a lovely weekend.I will be having my Guinness tonight while I presume that you will be having a glass of wine.So I will say Cheers to you about 8 o clock!.Can yer hear me Mother!,Take care,xx

    1. I haven't opened the wine, I will know when it's time. I opened a bottle of cider, will finish it today, or maybe tomorrow.

  5. With 18" of snow in 2 days in an area that rarely gets 4" a year, people have done a lot of panic buying at our stores. No fresh meats , very few fresh veggies or fruits, frozen fruits and veggies. No milk or bread. No yogurt or butters. Forget paper products. Totally iced in . No way for trucks to get into restock us. But I thinmk we will all be ok. Hoping for warmer weather soon. It will be nice to see a well stocked grocery store again. Our feathered friends are happy. We had plenty of birdseed to keep them well fed.
