Hello. My friend was throwing this out. It's quite big. It had solar powered lights on it but they had packed up. She said it is due for the tip. I said I would have it and tart it up a bit. I gave it a good scrub and removed the wiring for the lights, and the plastic gossamer wings.
I took the gems off, some of them were missing and they were faded. I did think I would paint them with nail varnish but that was going to be a tedious job and I didn't have enough of them, or the right coloured nail varnish.
I cut 34 small pieces of vinyl from my stash, to stick on in their place.
I had some cans of spray paint from a house clearance. So now it is silver.
Then I cut some bigger pieces of red vinyl for the wings, using the old pieces as a pattern.
So there it is newly refurbished. Now I have to decide where to put it.
Three parcels are in the post for Debi, Patty, and Sandra, winners of the guess how many dogs competition. Look out for them ladies. Open carefully, don't stab the contents.
Don't need to go for a walk tonight, I did a litter pick this afternoon. The sun is still shining, I will go outside and water up.
Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon. Toodle pip. ilona
Brilliant Ilona, you should have your own prog on the tv. lol

I could join the Money for Nothing team, that would be fun.
DeleteThat's lovely, Ilona. I like the butterfly both before the red wings and after them. Such color. It will beautifully adorn any where that you choose to display it.
ReplyDeleteThe first version was rather rustic. I like colour so I changed it.
DeleteThe butterfly looks great!I just love giving new life to something that was going to be thrown out.Much better than buying from shops and having something identical to what hundreds of others have got!.I think that it would look nice on any wall, inside or out...what about on the front of your lovely summer house?.I got quite excited when I saw the parcel and I shall be looking out for it in the next few days.Thank you so much!!xx
ReplyDeleteOne off's are much more fun than millions of other people having the same thing. Same with everything really.
DeleteThe butterfly has metamorphasised, it's very pretty. Maybe on the outside of your summerhouse? Or attached to a stick/ stake of some kind in a flower bed to give the illustration its flying? B & M sell Dhalia sticks for around a pound (sharpened at one end & 4-6 ft long. A bit like a giant pencil!) In the garden centre section. I have used them for many things.
ReplyDeleteBuy a stick for £1 ! Good grief. Against my principles when I can make one. I had to spend £1 on some superglue to do the job, that caused me some anxiety. Ha ha.
DeleteLol.My anxiety hits the roof on the very rare occasion I have to get my purse out for food let alone a stick.I would rather stick a safety pin on the back of the butterfly and wear it as a brooch!...Hi Unknown, that is a great idea!.I am just saying what a tightwad I am,lol,xx
DeleteThey are quite substantial sticks! Ha ha. About two inches thick, square. Always handy to have around.
Delete(I was smiling today remembering what my hubby usually says "it's just odd for a woman to have a, wood stash"!)... I have stashes of many things & enjoy making my own/ up cycling things xx
I have quite a substantial wood stash in my garage. I have pallets in there, and a bed frame, plus an assortment of wood I removed from skips. A lot of it went on the construction of the summer house.
DeleteBeautiful re-do on the butterfly !
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was a simple straight forward job. Strip off the old, repaint, and cut out new colourful shapes.
DeleteI would hang the butterfly in your garden. lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have asked my friend if she wants it back. She said no I can keep it. I will find a place in the garden.
DeleteClever girl and resourceful too
