There was a good turn out at the Bowls Club today for their Coffee Morning. Luckily the weather was warm and sunny. A £1 admission fee was charged and for that you got a cup of tea or coffee and a few biscuits. There was home made cakes for sale, hand made pottery for sale, and raffle tickets for some great prizes. Also a chance to have a try at bowls for those who have not played it before. Village life getting back to normal.
This doggy was happy to pose with my sun visor.
This is the first job to be done on the garage site. Along the edge of the fence is a lot of buried rubble, half bricks and lumps of concrete and suchlike. I want to remove all the larger pieces and flatten it down, then top it with plastic sheeting to stop the weeds coming up, then add some bricks to make a solid surface. I want to remove all the bricks on this side and relocate them elsewhere, and extend the lawn over the bald strip. It's back breaking work at the moment so I am doing it in short spurts. Getting up off my knees and doing a few stretches. I need to prepare the ground first before I put anything on it. Luckily the sun is out so I am going outside to continue with this task. Thanks for popping in. Have a good weekend. Toodle pip. ilona
I am keen to see what you do, this is a challenge right up your Strasse! It will , without a doubt, turn into something attractive and useful. Just be careful to wear sturdy gloves so you don't mess up your manicure!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand Bowls but love watching it - quintessentially English!
ReplyDeleteBowls and croquet are easy compared to cricket, here is a famous quote about cricket:
DeleteYou have two sides,
one out in the field and one in.
Each man that's in the side that's in
goes out, and when he's out he comes in,
and the next man goes in until he's out.
When they are all out, the side that's out comes in,
and the side that's been in goes out,
and tries to get out those coming in.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When both sides have been in and out,
including the not outs,
the winner is declared
If there is one.
Cricket can go on for 3 days in the serious matches such as 'The Ashes'.
hahaha love it!
DeleteI'm interested to see what you do with the space too. Those bricks have character!
ReplyDeleteWatch this space hey ilona😉
ReplyDeletePlenty of coffeeeee☕☕☕
What a lovely morning out and great when people turn up to support it.It must have been nice to be able to stand and have a chat with people. Its a great idea to extend your lawn!.Loving those old bricks too.I do agree though that it is back breaking work shifting them!xx
