There was time to get back onto the Pennine Way at Hawes church, and follow it south to a small village called Gayle. Lots of quirky cottages, nooks and crannies, and cobbled streets to explore. Even small spaces can be filled with pots and foliage. The sun was still shining so best to make the most of it.
Small stone bridge over the Beck.
A decision was made. I would go back to the car and go home. I had done all I wanted to do, and seen everything I wanted to see on this visit. It was 5pm, I would take a steady ride back on a scenic route.
The old A1 is still there alongside the newer A1M. Now it is hardly used except for locals. I stayed on it as far down as Wetherby then hopped on the motorway. Happy to pootle along at 50 - 60 with the lorries.
So, where too next. I am constantly checking maps looking for inspiration. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
The pictures you took of Gayle Beck are so perfect, such pretty flowers in the gardens, just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe spring and summer seasons bring out the best in villages. A good time to visit.
DeleteI love your blogs about your tours. The photos are great, it feels almost as if I have been there myself. You have an excellent eye for motives, and you must have a very good camera, too

I am very pleased with my Canon SX740 HS. It makes me look more closely at the scenery.
DeleteGayle looks gorgeous and isn't a place we've heard of so we'll take a run over that way some time. Had you thought about a coastal walk car camping trip. There's a great phone app called 'Park4night' and it shows safe places to stay overnight. We are going to try Lytham St Anne's as soon as we know for sure that Tony is ok.
ReplyDeleteI have done most of the coastline north of the Humber. Further south into Lincolnshire there is a lot of industry and below that it's very flat. Miles of sandy beaches look much the same to me. I am thinking about another Blackpool trip. I don't have a fancy phone so I can't access the app you mentioned.
DeleteThose pots of plants look gorgeous!!! If I tried to do something like that at my home it would look hodgepodge…I always think others have such crafty and good taste and judgement. They do beautiful work. I would love to have such talent. ♥️πΌπ»πΈπΊπΌ
ReplyDeleteI am sure you have talents in other activities. Embrace what you like doing, and be happy doing it. Whatever that might be.
