Walking Group check in.

Good morning. It's a bright and sunny 1st of November 2022. We are on the home stretch of the walking challenge. Only two months left to go and hopefully we should all reach our individual goals. The aim of this is consistency, to exercise on a regular basis, to build up stamina, and therefore improve our own health.

I have finished on 838 miles. Throughout October I had six no walking days for one reason or another. Rain, gardening, and days out visiting places. If I have a couple of spare hours and it is not raining, I will do a local walk from my house.

So let's hear it from you. How have you been doing? Check in here so we can share our triumphs. All my hard work is paying off. This is my seventh year of doing the 1000 mile challenge, and I feel great. How is it for you? Can you see any improvements in your health?

Random pic from the archives. Remember when I painted the snow in my garden. I wonder if we will get the white stuff this winter.

Now it's time for breakfast. Porridge and fruit this morning.
Catch ya later.   Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. Hi Ilona, very happy with my total so far, am doing some every day, currently my total is 1743klms, (1083 miles I think) and just content to see how far I get this year! I will be forever grateful for finding your blog and your walking challenge :) Joy, Central Vic, Australia

  2. Hello Ilona and fellow walkers,
I have started walking again last week! Every day a little further, starting with fifteen minutes which ended up to 40 minutes yesterday evening.
Putting just one foot before the other, without sticks or walker. It feels great to be a happy walker again.
As long as the weather is good dry and safe for cycling I pull my bike out for a daily) tour.
So, a lovely bit of excercise for me to keep me happy healthy and on the move.
    Cheers!

    Jeanneke.

  3. My October total was 128 miles for a YTD of 1,333 miles. We're supposed to get a dusting of snow this week just to let us know that winter is on its way.

  4. Hello, my total miles walked for October was 68. Not my best but other stuff was going on and I lost my focus. Total for the year is 752. -Leslie (not sure why I can't comment using Google like I always have, but I'm looking into it -- les.frig @ gmail.com)

    1. Hello Leslie. Thanks for checking in. There are lots of other things to think about. If you have a spare half hour, go outside and breath. Your numbers are great.

  5. I didn't get to walk as often in as I'd hoped but still logged in 70 miles which brings my YTD to 830. Walking has so many benefits for me both mentally and physically. I retired after 21 years in the Air Force and think I'm in better shape now than I was in my 30s and 40s on active duty. My vote is for none of the white stuff this year and a mild winter. Hope you have a great day.

    1. Hello Kay. So many people are saying similar things. I see the same people walking around my village, and they all look healthy and happy. All have a spring in their step and a smile on their face. You are well on the way to reaching the target.

  6. Hi Ilona, sorry to be a bit delayed in updating. Weather here in the Arizona desert is wonderful, highs about 80, lows about 60! So my dog and I are walking a few short walks a day, but it adds up. October was 31 miles, so year to date 431. Hope everyone has a good November! Hilogene in Az.

    1. Hello Hilogene. Good to hear from you. I am pleased you are sticking with it. Your miles might not be sky high, but every step counts and the key to succeeding in anything will pay dividends.

  7. The snow looks like the sherbet I used to buy from the sweet shop with my pocket money from the sweetshop in town! Arilx

  8. Sorry for late post. Had my best month so far this year with 106 miles (773 to date). I had a short break in Wales and got lots of walking done.

  9. I´m even later! But I also had a good month, the weather was fine and my knee not acting up, so I managed to reach a total of 821 miles.
