The bigger picture

Good afternoon.
I find turning bits and pieces into art fascinating. It's all about seeing something that other people are missing. Looking closely at something can reveal some interesting answers. Taking something at face value is a lazy way of processing information. Imagination is a strong motive to get to the bottom of life's mysteries.
Look closely and you will see, lots of miniature pan scrubbers.

A large piece of plain fabric with an arrangement of safety pins can be mistaken for a group of houses. Spot the odd one out.

Portraiture need not be a painted picture.
Look closely. Painting with a sewing machine.

Scrap fabric and threads twisted into a pleasing forest floor collage.

Similar again. I see mushrooms and twigs.

A gravel path with larger stones, maybe.

You've got to wonder how an artist comes up with these ideas, and how do they then start constructing their masterpiece. I am in awe.
The sun has come out and I will get Billy out for a walk.
Catch ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. They are absolutely fascinating & yes - I too wonder about their thought processes while creating these. I especially loved the pan scrubbers as that is what I am currently knitting.

    1. Looking at the art in this exhibition tells me that I ought to loosen up my own thought processes. I stick too rigidly with neat and tidy, and need to become more messy with my constructions. When one has followed a similar journey throughout ones life we need to take a different approach.

That's all well and good when it comes to personal ambitions and achievements, but the same concept cannot be enforced on masses of people. Individual personalities come into it, and division is inevitable. As with any form of creativity the artist must work alone. Find inspiration from different sources, and then incorporate them into your own work.

  2. I like the ones from photo 6 onwards especially. Schoolhouse block in safety pins is different to the patchwork ones I am used too. Liked the textural pieces best though - the last 6 photos.

    1. This is why I am drawn towards artistic people. Every one has something different to offer, and paints a different picture. I really do hope that AI does not creep too far into human brain cells.

  3. Some really innovative and inspiring work. I particularly like the work made with pan scrubs and the safety pin houses. Always good to see what people can create from next to nothing.
