My neighbours gardens are not as big as mine. When I came to view the house I was pleased there was so much space at the back. There was a garage and I could get my much smaller car up the driveway and into it.
There was nothing in the garden, it was open on each side, no hedges, except the one across the back. The trees are in the garden of the house around the corner. I planted up the hedge between me and the neighbour on one side. The fencing on the other side was put up by the other neighbour.
I dropped lucky finding this house. This is one of the cheaper houses in the village, it was bought from the Council by it's previous owners, who were tenants at the time. If I wanted to downsize I would have to go for a cheaper terraced house, but that would mean hardly any garden and being squashed into a row with several other little boxes. As long as I can keep the garden tidy I will stay here.
There hasn't been quite as much rain today.
I have some Christmas fabric left over from a year ago when I made some bunting. Today I made some more bunting. I didn't have any red or white ribbon so I made some by cutting strips from an old red cotton sheet.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
You have a gorgeous garden which is perfect for wildlife. I'd stay in your current house for as long as you can. Far too many people over 60 move into flats or bungalows which often turns out to be their downfall because they quickly develop bungalow legs and their mobility decreases. My neighbour who is in his early 80's still manages completely independently in his terraced house with very steep stairs.
ReplyDeleteA very old lady once told me that moving into a bungalow was the biggest regret of her life. She wished she had bought a smaller house instead in order to keep active and mobile
DeleteI can still skip up and down the stairs so I suppose that is a good indication that I should stay put for the time being. It would seem weird to walk into another room on the same level to go to bed.
DeleteDownsizing isn't always a bad idea as you get older. We have moved from our large victorian family home to a 3 bedroomed bungalow. It takes so much less maintenance and cleaning. We have a lovely maneable garden which we can easily keepnupnto and enjoy instead of constant upkeep. We have time to sit and enjoy it now instead of the constant list of jobs we had before. We have more time for trips out, holidays and spending time with family and friends. The other positive is we have got rid of loads of "stuff" to charity, sold some and given things to family so they don't have that chore when we are no longer around. I feel we have lightened the load
ReplyDeleteI try and keep up with getting rid of stuff, moving it on when I have no further use for it. I have a friend who works around the village as a gardener. I could get him to do a few jobs for me.
DeleteGood afternoon ilona We need nature more than ever before keeps us mentally alive have a great day

I have no idea what this is about, Levi. But thank you anyway. I hope your mum is well.
