My poor legs have never done so much work, I am struggling to get up and down stairs. I have climbed several mountains. Each day I thought crikey that was hard work, then the next morning I got up and did it all over again. Four days in the Lake District, I'm off to bed now, will sort out the pics tomorrow.
Hello, I am a 67 year old retired lorry driver. After trucking for 32 years I'd had enough, went part time when I was in my mid 50's and stopped altogether when I reached 60. Yippeeee, now I am free to do as I like. I live with three cats and a dog, I make do and mend being very careful with my spending, only buying what I need. I have no qualms about buying second hand from car boot sales and charity shops, and getting free stuff from skip diving. Money saved is put towards holidays, a decent car, and days out. I love life, and it needn't cost a fortune to enjoy it.
1000 mile challenge
Readers taking part in the 1000 miles in one year challenge. 2016
We have 64 members signed up for our Walking Group. Our challenge is to walk 1000 miles in one year. This can be done in regular small amounts over the whole twelve months, or longer walks. Members can choose how they do it, and are responsible for calculating their own mileage. It can also be done on a bicycle, running, jogging, a treadmill, or a mixture of any of those.
Progress is recorded on the walking page, link at the top, and will be updated when the information is received. Members are required to report in at the end of every month so the page can be kept up to date.
It isn't a race, and it doesn't matter if some members are not able to keep up. The main thing is that everyone should do their best and take part in their chosen activity whenever they can. It's all about keeping fit and active. The more you put into it the better you will feel about yourself.
A poem by Joan
Ilona is the Mean Queen
Of Life After Money blog fame.
She is a unique character,
Who puts us all to shame.
She has wide and varied interests,
Boredom she does not know.
Rarely planned, she tackles life,
Going with the flow.
Trekking all over the country,
In sunshine, wind and rain.
It doesn't matter if she misses a sight,
She'll be back to see it, again.
Modern art is a favourite hobby,
A talent which comes from within.
Creating a one-off masterpiece,
With bits and bobs from her bin.
Her meals are truly legendary,
With never two plates filled the same.
She'll add this, with a pinch of that,
Treating it more like a game.
Her imagination knows no bounds,
On recycling things from her store.
Full of ideas, she'll let you know,
What you can do with a door.
Compassionate and caring,
Ilona has friends by the ton.
Not only humans in blogland,
But all animals under the sun.
Her cats think she's the bees knees,
When she caters for every whim.
And as for her pet dog, Rocky,
He's thankful she looks after him.
I would like to be more like Ilona,
With her spirit, energy and zest.
Then when I'm done, I'll know for sure,
That I've done my absolute best.
