Your carriage awaits you madam

I saw four weddings today, the Registry Office is in the same building as the library. The first wedding party turned up in two stretch limo's, the next two came in ordinary cars with ribbons adorning them, and the last one brought the bride in this beautiful glass carriage with two fabulous white horses. Everyone came out of the library to have a look.

Two pictures sold today. The commute back home this afternoon was easy, not much traffic about. I picked up some food from Tesco but I was too early for the final reductions. Not to worry, I didn't wait for it. Tired now, I'm off to bed. ilona

  1. Well, the brides and grooms certainly seemed to have lovely weather for their big days! It is always lovely to see them just starting out.
Great news - selling two pictures! You have certainly had a busy week.

    1. I don't mind now, time to move on. They can't be removed until the end of the exhibition.

  6. Sorry but I'm going to say that pic leaves me cold! Not to rain on their matrimonial parade but it begs the question, just how serious are they being about the whole marriage deal? Great news on your picture sales, you deserve it, your work is very appealing.

  8. Excellent news about the picture sales. Sorry, but I agree with a couple of others - in my view the carriage was vulgar; however, each to their own and of course it was THEIR day.

  9. Oh dear, not many like the glass carriage, I think it's lovely. Who's to know whether the marriage will last or not? Or how serious they are about the whole marriage deal? How much they spent on the wedding is no indication of the longevity of the union, or whether they went into it with their eyes wide open. I would not speculate without knowing the couple personally.

    1. I agree with you Ilona. It's their choice and their special day so clearly it makes them happy. I think its very pretty, even though it would not be my own choice. Each to his/her own, as they say. I don't see what the style of transport has anything to do with the seriousness of their marriage as one reader commented. Rather sceptical comments about the longevity of their marriage too I see. I think its lovely to see two happy people in love and starting out on a new life together. I remember how we felt when we got married, and are still together 42 years later. True, some marriages don't last these days, and I don't know anything about this couple. However, I wish them a long and happy time together

    1. I have seen some like it. They are very popular riding up and down the Promenade at Blackpool.

  11. I too agree with the others ...the horse and glass carriage is a tad over the top for me....Katie Price aka Jordan had the same at one of her many weddings! I see the carriage driver is standing there looking a bit bemused by it all. When they look back at those photos all they'll see is a car park as a back drop.

    1. I can't see his face in great detail so I can't tell if he is bemused. There is also a young lady with him dressed in very smart riding gear. She was asked to be in the photographs and stepped forward close to the bride who was still sat in the carriage. It's just work to them, I expect they have been paid well for it or they wouldn't do it. It is a shame about the backdrop, but there is no other way to get the whole thing close to the building.

    2. A person adept at Photoshop can replace the car park backdrop with something more beautiful. I am not able to work such wonders but my daughter is a whiz. I love the glass carriage and horses carrying the bride to her wedding. It's the first time I've seen such a lovely, romantic means of transport.

  13. That's brilliant Ilona, you are a professional artist! Many congratulations.

Wonder who has to clean up the horse poo?

  14. I LOVE the glass carriage! They can pull over into or in front of a park or pretty yard and do it all over or just sit in carriage and get a good background.
