Walking Group check in. 1st October.

Good morning, it's the 1st of October, check in day for the International Walking Group to declare their miles so far. How far have you walked in nine months? My goodness the months seem to be flying by, nearly Christmas.

I am behind with my miles, not done as well as I have done in the first two years, my mind has been occupied with other things. I have done 698 miles, I have divided the remaining 302 miles by 92 which is the days left till the end of the year, and I must do 3.28 miles per day to reach the magic 1000 miles. Will I do it? I don't know. Seems the older I get the less time there is in a day, are we still getting 24? I must become more disciplined, work out a timetable.

So let's hear from you. How have you done? Are you ahead, or are you lagging behind?

  1. Although Im not part of the walking group,I do walk alot although not as much as some of you!.It varies so much from one week to the next!.It all depends on whats going on in my Family life!.I do know that I have lost over a stone in this last year and I think that this is part due to living frugal...ie.thinking about what is going into my supermarket trolly and part due to walking as much as my life allows!.And this was great because summer dresses that were a squeeze last year ...fit me with ease this summer.xx

Only did 80 miles this month, however, I realized I made a mistake with last month's total. It should have been 965 miles and with my 80 miles this month brings my total to 1045 miles. Cooler days now, so I am hoping to get to 1500 by Dec 31st. Happy walking!

    1. Biking is good exercise. You're in the right place for that. I would bike more if I didn't have a flippin great hill to struggle up and down getting out of the village.

  11. Hi Ilona and other walking group folks,
This month I walked 46 miles for a year to date total of 533. Well off last years pace but I decided to aim for two miles a day walking and then go to the gym more often. I sure enjoy walking now :). This time of year in Phoenix the weather is finally getting nice. We had our last day over 100 degrees yesterday...well, that is what they are claiming but I have seen 100 into October before. Ilona, thanks so much for the photos of your walks and other travels, it is wonderful to see other parts of the World!

  13. Well done everyone. Many of you have overcome a lot to achieve your miles. I think getting ready for and manning your exhibition must have used up a lot of your time lately Ilona.
I loved reading about your Scottish holiday.
After last month's poor figures this month's were much better because we had a 3 week holiday. Our total so far this year is 901 miles.
Now the weather is cooling down it will be more difficult to leave the house to walk though I must admit I really miss a walk on days when there isn't time to have one. Sue

The miles I walked during September total 58 miles, not happy about that, but it is what it is. Aim to improve during October as the weather is cooler which I like as I can layer my clothing. I credit the walking and a diet I have been on to the fact my jeans I wore today fit soooo much better. Patrici

  20. Hi Ilona and walkers and well done with your fantastic mileages. I’ve only done 47 this month, which is short of my personal target of 50, and I’ve done 487 miles this year so far. I seem to have a lot of other activities on the go so I don’t worry about the numbers, I just get out there when I can and enjoy it.

  24. Well the walking outside didn't go as planned so we joined the goodlife gym and have been going every day. It was either too hot, too cold or raining so we broke down and did it. I am amazed when two older ladies next to me can out walk me etc so I'm not as fit as I thought, a wake up call for me. will catch up hopefully next year.

I got so far behind during the summer, I lost track of my miles. But now the temperature is below freezing and I have no more vegetable garden to care for, and I have resumed my 3 miles a day. Enjoying the wildlife, even in mid-day. So far this week I have practically stepped on a nice buck deer (ok maybe a little exaggeration but not much) seen geese flying south, and discovered a big porcupine in its den. There are also flocks of western bluebirds gathering for their migration and I enjoy listening to them twitter.

  26. I haven't checked in the last few months, sorry about that! I've been keeping note of the walks I've done, but got behind on calculating distances, adding them up etc. But I'm caught up now!

So in September I walked 57.36kms for a total of 432.17kms so far this year! I'm definitely on track for reaching my goal of 500kms, despite being injured/sick several times, so I'm very happy!
