A family day out at Newark

Good morning. And so we have sunshine again on this Sunday morning. I have done a Billy dog walk early because it will be too hot later on.

I had a smashing day out at the Nottinghamshire County Show yesterday. Something for all the family to watch and join in with. There was a queue on the main road coming up to the roundabout. Once past that it was straight into a massive car park. I found a space quite quickly, and entered the Showground through the Purple Gate. Something you have to remember later when you are trying to find your car. Maps were being handed out, a £19 entrance fee was payable to those who hadn't paid online.

The Irish dancing was a bit hit. Even the little girl worked through her shyness and did her little jig.
Outside the Community Zone the Morris Dancers did their thing.

All the fun of the fair with the iconic Galloping Horses.
It is so big you can easily get lost. Signposts to help find your way around.
Buy your rose bushes here. Hundreds of other trade stands, something for everyone.
Animals of every kind to view. Too many to photograph them all. The cows scrub up well.

I love to see the decorated horses.

Waiting their turn to go in the ring.
These ladies wore white cotton gloves to wipe off the dust.

Good to see that help is on hand and a vet is available.
Didn't expect to see Jeremy here. Looks like his mate next to him has collapsed with heat exhaustion.

The Blidworth Welfare Brass Band entertains, next to the Festival of Food.
Lots more to see. Demonstrations in the Main Ring, and horse riding competitions in the smaller rings. Motorcross Stunt Show, Lawn Mower Racing, Sheepdog Display, Ferret Roadshow, and Falconry Flying Display. Something for everyone.
Had to take a photo of this beautiful DAF truck, didn't I. 😀😝

I had a nice surprise as I was walking around. Out of the thousands of people that were there, my cousin Clare, her hubby Pete, and daughter Kissy spotted me. Of course there were plenty of other people to talk to, but having a natter with family members was a bonus.
I will finish this post now, but that is not the end. More pics tomorrow.
Enjoy your Sunday. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. Wow!!! So much to see. Like you said something for everyone. The horses looked very regal. That had to be great deal of walking seeing all you could.

    1. I did a lot of walking, that's why I put my comfy old boots on. The ground was filthy dusty, no flashy trainers for me. I had some extra walking to do at the end, when I could not find my car, ha ha.

  2. The girls in the 2nd pic are Irish dancers (as in Michael Flatley's Riverdance) not Morris dancers. My friend's daughter took Irish dance classes for years when she was younger, it's very competitive

    1. That's what I said. I put the captions above the photograph, not below it.

    2. Aha, so you did, apologies, that's what you get for being ancient and being woken up 3 times the previous night by a 3 yr old granddaughter......should've gone to Specsavers, haha!
