There are a lot of Castles in Wales. This one is in Mumbles. Got to have a look while I am here. The ladies on the reception asked if I was eligible for the concession rate. It's rude to ask a lady her age, ha ha. I suppose I should be flattered that they needed to ask. Yes, I am a pensioner, so I only paid £4 to get in. A brochure was handed to me so I could study the history as I walked around. Here is a link to the Friends of Oystermouth web site.
After an hour of that I decided to give up. Just give me signs for the M4 so I can get out of here. And so I drove through Swansea looking for the motorway. Eventually I found it. I went past Bridgend, past Cardiff, and past Newport. Eventually parking up at Magor services where the M4 splits from the M48, depending which Severn crossing you wish to take.
Yes I missed out on the beaches, but to me a beach is a beach is a beach. They all have sand and or rocks. I have seen plenty of them in different parts of our coastline.
So, my third night out was at another services. Total for the three was £35. I would be heading home from here, but taking the scenic route. I am not going to get stuck in traffic around Birmingham again.
The holiday continues. Where did I go next.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
Some lovely photos of the castle. I’m really enjoying your trip and you’ve certainly maximised your time. I’ve been to Rhossili beach a few times and agree it’s not easy to find and takes much longer than you think to get there. There’s no free parking - an expensive NT car park.
ReplyDeleteI try and get as much in as I can within the time I have given myself. My aim is to take photo's of the places I visit and put them on the blog. Three or four days is plenty of time to do that. I am stacking the posts up, The last one will be number 9. I like to share my trips so others can see what a wonderful island we live on.
