Letting off steam.

Hello. I am so blooming mad about this, there's steam coming out my ears. Comment from Anon on the LV bag post.

Exactly! We should all let live and stop criticising people, the world would be a better place. Kindness matters. Be kind Ilona!

Hey, Anon, why don't you put a name to your comment? Do not tell me what to do, do not tell me what I can and can't say on my blog. Just to reiterate, I think LV bags are ugly, and ridiculously expensive, and I can't for the life of me understand why people should waste their money buying them.
This is my blog about my life, what I do, and what I think. This post was my thoughts on the looks and the price of the bags. That's all. My views, they don't have to fit in with anyone else's, it's my blog.

I didn't criticize anyone for buying them, I only said I will never understand the hunger for designer labels. Other people can do what they like. I know everyone is different, I can't speak for other people, anyone can say they like the bags if they want to.

The world would be a better place if everyone read what is actually written rather than spinning a whole new story around what they thought it said. I am kind, and I am offended that you think otherwise.
Ilona

  1. Your blog, your opinion and if we're to be honest, isn't the fact that they're telling you what to do, say and think the very thing they're criticising you for....( you're doing nothing wrong and those bags are hideous).

  2. Well said. I also wouldn't spend this kind of money on a bag even if I had it. I would rather spend money on experiences and and memories to sustain me when I'm no longer fit enough to have adventures. Kristel

  3. I read your original post and didn't see a criticism about owning one of the bags. You just stated your opinion with which I totally agree. I think the bags are ugly and have no style at all. For me a bag that size needs to have some outside pockets.

  4. Oh dear. But worse things happen at sea. You might be living on the street like a young girl I saw today, or a man who approached me asking for change, or the Big Issue seller who smiled and laughed and wished me and everyone who passed by a cheerful 'Merry Christmas' no matter if they bought a magazine or not. That is the kind of thing that people ought to be mad about.

    1. Amanda, you've just told me what kind of thing I ought to be mad about. I can decide for myself.

    2. No she didn't she saight 'ought' not 'you should' she was expressing her views, the same as you were about the bags.

    3. In my book telling someone what they ought to do, and what they should do, amounts to the same thing.

  7. Dear Ilona, To me your life is such fun. Your walk in North Yorkshire looked like Heaven itself! I gave up trying to work people out years ago it just washes over my head. Enjoy your kind friends and ignore everyone else. Jane xx

  8. Personally I would never pay that sort of money for a bag -mine usually come from a car boot sale or charity shop. I think those are ugly like you. Really if people like them then go for it as long as they can afford it. Far too many people getting into credit card debt buying designer labels to keep up with friends and colleagues which is just stupidity. Love the blog you think a lot like me

  9. Hi Ilona, love your blog, love your outlook on life, as do 99,9% of people who read your blog, it's only the small minority who differ. ( and who can't read and understand what is written lol )
I have your page set to load as soon as I switch on my computer as you cheer me up and I always find your articles interesting.
As my gran used to say " don't let them get to you "

  10. Everyone agrees you are kind, fun loving and an inspiration so I wouldn't bother too much about one person's misguided thoughts.

  13. Here here...well said. If I wanted to read blogs that I only agree with all of the time, I'd be writing it. I read many different types of blogs because I want to learn something, I want to open my eyes to something different.Just keep writing what you think, feel, love and know.My world has gotten bigger and better and I thank you for being a part of that growth.

  14. LV bags ARE ugly. Should someone choose to spend $$$$ on a designer bag, more power to them. I do prefer to carry a leather bag, I buy it for around $50-$75 US, and use it for several years, polishing and taking care of it to keep it presentable for work.

  15. I'm so sorry Ilona I've been MIA for a long time:( Like you I had steam coming out of my ears regarding the kindness comment from Anon. You are one (if not) the kindest and loving person in the blogging world that I read. Love Linda xxx

  16. Well said Ilona, Anon needs to read what she has said before pressing the comment button. I can imagine she goes about life looking for the negative.
Hope you have a nice day today and the fair did well yesterday.

  17. I too thought those bags were way over priced but if people are daft enough to pay that sort of money then go ahead. I think it is often a case of thinking that paying more is better. not necessarily . As for those you criticise , just let them go. Those who know you, accept you for who you are. you don't impose your will, but offer alternatives to those who may never have thought life can be different. Keep smiling

  19. Sometimes having a blog is a little like running a cult you have followers who for the most part are like minded individuals, then you have the anonymous who for the most part are lovely , then theres the occasional oddbod and finally trolls . But nobody can be loved 100% of the time so i dont really mind . Theres nothing worse than silence ...lol

  20. Take no notice Ilona. Everyone is allowed to have their say. Some self appointed people seem not like free speak if it does not agree with them. Personally the fact they do not give there name says it all.

  21. I am annoyed now. You are very kind by writing this blog. You give me and many people a great deal of pleasure with your wisdom and colourful life. My life is enriched for it. And, so must be person anonymous. Why on earth would they bother to read your blog if it was not any other way. Xx

  22. umm did you hurt the poor lv bags feelings ?? no u didnt you were sharing your thoughts that a lot of peeps agree with keep up the good work tessa

  23. Quite agree Ilona. I have said this before but I will never understand why people waste their own time by commenting on other people's lives in order to make spiteful comments. Why read your blog in the first place if your so profoundly disagree with its ethos? As a retired man living on his own and now with reduced means I read your blog every day as I find it full of common sense which reflects your positive approach for life.

  24. Just to say, I agree with all that you've said, and I'm not the 'Amanda' that commented further up the blog (perhaps I ought to alter my name as I pitch in quite a bit). My original comment was that the bags were shockingly expensive and I didn't like the example it sets for especially young girls 'celebrities buy them so they want them too'. Amanda

  27. I often read the comments at the foot of news items, and am quite shocked at what some people put, almost as if they get a kick out of being confrontational.

I too enjoy your excellent blog Ilona, and totally agree with your comments about the LV bags.

  28. I love your blog, Ilona and look forward every evening to reading it. We all know that you are a very kind and caring person. Personally, I wouldn't buy the bags no matter how little they cost, as I think they are quite ugly. I wonder how many would be sold if they did not have a designer label (complete with advertising all over the bag), even if they did not cost so much? I really like your Mum's handbag.

  29. Ignore it. You are entitled to your opinion, anon was trying to wind you up. Those bags are rather ugly I agree.

  30. I wouldn't worry to much about it, it was probably just a LV bag owner who realized too late the junk she'd purchased. I've seen them (LV bags) but haven't been able to understand the attraction to them. There are so many actually pretty bags around that I almost wish I carried a bag (pockets for keys and cell phone, that's all I need), but never have seen a pretty LV bag. Becoming a big fan of your blog, just found it a couple of months ago. Take Care! Sandi in Oklahoma

  31. I teach marketing sometimes and I agree with Ilona. It is like the expensive bags and excessive consumerism- persuading people to buy things they don't need at prices they cannot afford to pay. It was a strategy designed in the 1950s by big firms to encourage consumers to spend more on things they didn't realise they needed. Don't let anyone get you down Ilona please remember we all think you are great. That silly person is a no one. You are fab and make our day. kitxxxxxxxxxx

  32. You carry on marching to the beat of your own drum Ilona. I get fed up too with people trying to impose their own life philosophies on me.

And personally I find LV bags tacky and boring. Who wants to carry a bag around the colour of sludge or be too frightened to carry it in case they get mugged. What do people do with them? Put them on the pillow beside them at night so they can gaze at them? Linda x

  35. Gosh! It's too bad someone upset you like that. I commented too that I have an LV bag that I love. Personally I try to always be kind in my posts. Even when disagreeing. I hope I wasn't one of the offenders. I enjoy your posts. It gives me ideas of ways I can eliminate expense and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
