Car booting bargains

Hello. I went to the car boot sale this morning at the football ground, looking for some picture frames. I am often needing a frame of a certain size but find I haven't got one, so if I have a few extras in stock I can make pictures to fit the frames.
There weren't many sellers, although dry, it was a bit cold, quite a few buyers were mooching around. I found a box of frames and picked one out and asked how much. 20p, oooh, that's cheap, so I rummaged through the box again and found some more. Nine frames for £2.
Then this caught my eye. A black wire heart shape, to hang on the wall I imagine. It was 50p. I have a plan for this, it would look nice wrapped in wool.

Then I came across this mesh. It's metal, a very fine mesh, like you might find in a sieve. It's a 2 foot square piece, 50p the man said. I am thinking along the lines of cutting it up into suitable size pieces then stitching onto it. Just ideas at the moment.

I had a poke around in a box of bracelets, they were 50p each. I picked two out and have dismantled them to use the parts as embellishments.

So, a few interesting bits and bobs. My lunch today was mushrooms and noodles, iceberg lettuce, and an avocado.

Back to the sewing. Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

  1. I have small metal butterfly envy!
I use my heart shaped thingy like yours for holding cards that people have sent me that I want to use as ideas for card making.

    1. I think that's what the heart is meant for, Sue. Didn't realize until I got it home. When I see things I always look for the possibility of turning it into something else, often I miss the obvious.

  2. I am really enjoying your blog. I look forward to reading it every day. You got some good bargains on picture frames at the car boot sale and they are always useful to have on hand. I cant wait to see what wonderful creations you come up with using the mesh. When are you going to make another youtube video?

    1. Thank you Joy. The times I do a blog post varies depending on what else I am doing. Sometimes I do it early, sometimes later, sometimes I miss a day altogether. I am like a butterfly, I flit around from one job to the next, whatever takes my fancy. I can't say when the next video will appear, if I get an idea for a topic I will make one.

    2. I totally understand you being like a butterfly flitting from one job to the next as I am just the same. Whenever you put up a blog or video is fine by me and I will enjoy them whenever they appear. Thanks for entertaining us all.

  4. Yes, a bit like Sue said, those hearts are for holding photographs, or sometimes cards or jewellery. Around here there are always loads of frames for sale in charity shops, they are usually in a big box on the floor. I rather like your little roses, so much cheaper than buying craft embellishments. I always re-use broken necklaces and spare beads, very useful in both my jewellery making and some craft or sewing project.

    1. Hi. I browse the craft embellishments in The Range, and think yes they are nice, but not as exciting as finding something else to do the job. I think making embellishments is much more interesting than buying them.

  5. Hi Illona, I think the mesh screening is probably window screen material (to keep insects out). The metal would be great to do stitching on because you can create a 3-D shape.
