Ground control to Zombie 1.

Good morning.
I have just seen a Zombie walk past my house. The human variety. Remember humans? Tall and thin, slouched shoulders, bag slung over his shoulder, wearing shorts and t shirt. He was looking at the ground, muttering away to himself, as he shuffled along. A strange sight, someone so young with such a poor posture, leaning forward, in his own little world, oblivious to anything going on around him. He might as well have been a robot. Maybe they could get robots to deliver daily newspapers, I'm surprised that anyone still buys them.
The Zombie was wired up to an electronic gadget, the giveaway is the wires connected to his ears. It's eight o clock on a very pleasant summer morning, the birds are twittering, all is calm and peaceful. The Zombie is somewhere else. His shell is shuffling along the street outside my house, but there is no sign of his brain, that is on another planet maybe.
Perhaps he is checking in to Zombie control, getting his instructions for the day, checking the timetable, when to meet up with other Zombies. They are everywhere, they have their own language, it's secret.
One day Zombies will rule the world. They will multiply. Little Zombies will be taught the secret Zombie language, they too will become indoctrinated into the clan. As soon as they are able to make a sound, their heads will be wired up to communicate with other Zombies.
When my body has departed this life I would like to come back, and float through the sky and look down on these Zombies. Curious to see how different things are.
Crafty Club this morning. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.  ilona

  1. An excellent read, and so true of the way life is led in this modern world. I have only just got a mobile phone and was quite curious about all the apps it had on it, but quickly got bored and went back to paying attention to all that was around me!

    1. I will not have a smart phone or whatever you call them. I will not be tracked.

  2. Oh Ilona, don’t. It makes me shudder to think how much people are missing when they allow themselves to be sucked into Zombie World. Talk about restricting one’s life, eh? So much to do in the real world! Enjoy Crafty Club! Today, I shall be taking my notebook and writing in the garden. And then I shall be making the most of the free courses provided by the OU and learning something new!

    1. Learning something new is the way, Zombies don't want you to do that.

  3. My Mam says this aswell Ilona and I tend to agree with her.She says this virus has come from another planet to teach us all a lesson for man kind going up in rockets. To be honest...dont laugh...I have seen a difference in some people. As though they look the same but their bodies have been taken over by something else.A bit like the zombie films in the 70s/80s.For example, yesterday as I started to go out for my walk someone who lives nearby, thought it a great idea to rush up behind me and hug me!.Laughing and smiling and asking how I was because they hadnt seen me for a while..I was mortified and furious to be honest and explained that we have been self isolating for months. So with our ages plus my mam who I have to see daily is nearly 87,I dont want to risk catching something by close contact!!.She said...Oh I am fine,I had a test 2 weeks ago and was negative. But who has she been in contact with since?.This just seemed really strange for someone who is usually quite sensible.I just walked swifty on but felt really uneasy.xx

  4. For quite a few years now I have noticed the same thing. These zombies don't notice birdsong, flowers, perfumed hedgerows or other people... They truly are terrifying

  5. I've actually noticed the opposite during these past few months - at least amongst those in my neighbourhood as we take our walk through the local park or along the river - and it has been a relief! However, now that things are opening up a bit more downtown - the zombies are back! Honestly - if I was looking for a career with a future - these days I'd either be an audiologist or a physiotherapist! Between the terrible posture and the constant blaring in their ears - they'll be deaf and crippled before their 30!

  6. They have been brought up with screens from an early age. They are addicted. So sad.

  7. I got out of my car and went to walk into a shop, before I managed to do so, a young girl walked towards me and was welded to her phone taking no notice of what was going on around her. I tried to step aside but she wandered into my path and nearly knocked me over!

  8. As they say - youth is wasted on the young! What a shame!

  9. For "smart" anything, read "spy network" or Big Brother, whichever you prefer. Very scary (to me, anyway). I feel lucky to have grown up with so many freedoms and no addiction to the "smart" phone. Phone zombies all around us. It's their choice at the end of the day. Have a lovely evening,everyone....It's gorgeous out here xxxxx

    1. I agree with you there. I won't have smart (spy) meters for my utilities. Another method of controlling us.

  10. Sometimes I feel like I'm living on another planet. Everyone on their phones, everyone in a hurry. They don't notice anything or anyone. Sometimes, I point out a lovely tree or flower and people stare, as if to say "Why would be interested in that!". So hard to raise children today. I always try to teach my grandkids, to respect people, to appreciate nature, to use your imagination and to follow your own path. It makes me anxious wondering what life will be like in the future.

    1. I feel for anyone who wants to raise their children these days with a good understanding of what is going on around them. The kids don't want to know. They follow their mates on screens.

  11. And there is nothing worse than a table of zombies in a restaurant, including the children zombies all engrossed in their electronic worlds and missing the joy of being together and sharing food. Unfortunately I think they already do run the world.

    1. I've not been in a restaurant in years. I don't want other people watching me eat.
