Good evening. Up until yesterday I had received four birthday cards. That all changed today. The ladies at the Crafty Club bumped that number up to ten. And look at the presents they gave me. A bottle of wine, and a few miniature boozy bottles to sample there. I am blessed with some very nice friends.
This afternoon I was going to go for a walk. I did half an hour in the garden, but it was too hot for a walk. So I got the bike out instead and had a whizz round the village. I thought I might do some more biking, but to be honest I have lost my confidence wobbling around on two wheels. Even with a soft saddle it makes my bum sore. I wobble when starting and stopping, and my knees ache going uphill. Trying to dodge thousands of pot holes plays havoc with the concentration, and some car drivers do not allow for the wobble when overtaking. Tomorrow the bike goes. I'll stick to two legs, much safer. I am going to donate it to a charity which passes them on to people who need a bike but cannot afford to buy one. That's all for now. One last post with pics from the Sculpture Park coming soon. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona
Happy belated birthday ilona. Nick
ReplyDeleteThank you. Now I just want to forget all about it.
DeleteSorry to hear you are giving up on the bike. Potholes and bad drivers are very off putting. I wear padded cycle under and shorts with a hard saddle. That helps keep the undercarriage in good condition. Brendaintheboro
ReplyDeleteHello Brenda. I tried the padded shorts. Didn't like them. Felt like I had a mattress between my legs.
DeleteHappy Birthday and start of a fresh new year.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about a tricycle, except storing it is the problem.
Thank you. A tricycle sounds better. Yes, a bigger shed is needed, but sheds around here are being broken into.
DeleteHello Ilona ... I am playing catch up on your posts. First of all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! I wish you a year filled with good health, happiness & many special moments.,
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful photo of you on your bike - I especially love your swirly patterned leggings. I find bike seats incredibly uncomfortable too ... we live on a busy road so if I want to bike anywhere, I first have to take (drive) my bike to the place & then get on it - too much fuss for me. Like you, I prefer my legs!! The sculpture park photos & the pottery sculptures were just stunning! What a wonderful place to visit. Enjoy the week ahead Ilona - we are having lovely autumn days here, chilly but nice blue skies. ❄️π
Hello Julie. Good to hear from you. My risk assessment for the bike tells me I am too nervous and would most likely fall off. I can't take that chance. I don't want any broken bones at my age. Another downside is that if I cycle somewhere and need to leave it for an hour or two there is the security aspect. I have locks and chains but they can easily be cut off. Another worry, would it still be there when I come back. Bike theft is rife.

Sorry have not been around but late Happy Birthday! Your gifts look lovely and a miniature is the perfect way to enjoy a wee tipple without being committed to a big bottle of something you may not be as keen on. Arilx
ReplyDeleteThat's ok Aril. I used to like Southern Comfort, not sure if my taste buds are still the same. We shall see.
