Sunny Saturday walk

Now I am flumoxed. I usually add my photo's to a new page first, and insert the text in between each one. Something has changed. Now I can't see the photo's on the Post Edit page, all I have is a massive block of HTML code. I can't find the spaces in between the photo's. This is going to take some sorting out. I may have to put the photo's on one at a time, and add the words underneath each one. The little bird sitting in a tree is not a real one. Someone has put it there. It is the tree next to the bench. The group of cars turned up just as I was walking down the track. They have guns and dogs. The have come to kill pheasants in the nearby woods. The views across the river look misty. Lovely sunset again.

It was a nice walk, apart from the bird killers turning up. I called in to see a friend, and have a natter over coffee. This is very disconcerting. I need to investigate. I need to see the photo's when adding the words. Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip. ilona

Not dead.

Good morning. Here is a lovely gentle and relaxing video to watch while you have your Saturday morning brekkie. Who remembers the British comedy stars of the 1070's. I loved watching sitcoms, especially after a days hard graft. With all that was going on in my life, trying out different jobs, then finding one I could really settle into. It was reasuring that there was always some laughter to wind down with in the evening. Sadly a lot of the old actors have passed away, but that's what it is all about I suppose. Nothing lasts forever. Happily some of them are still with us. Take a gander at this and see where they are now. The reply

 OK, I know you're itching to know if my email to my MP provoked a response. I mean, have they got time to respond to all their incoming emails, or do they just get someone else to do it for them. Perhaps they have pre written scripts to pick out the relevant bits, and cobble something together. I have emailed Andrew before and a reply has always come back within a few hours. This time I sent it just after 9pm, and the reply appeared at just after 1am, so maybe he works through the night, or maybe he doesn't. I copy his email here, unedited. Note the language used. A few cranks on the internet. A few nutters on the internet. Utter balderdash. These types of whack jobs.

I have to say though, absolutely not when it comes to vaccines. The evidence for the efficacy and safety of the vaccines is now stronger than ever. Few vaccines, if any, have ever been delivered to as many people as safely as the Covid ones. 

The anti-vaccine misinformation which continues to infect certain elements of the internet is not only ignorant, anti-science and plain wrong, it is dangerous. 

You are incorrect on this nonsense around deaths and injuries from vaccines and clearly those pushing this rubbish do not understand the system for recording those and nor do they appear to appreciate the damage anti-vaxers have done to those systems. Nor have  they appreciated how the recording of deaths actually works. 

It is funny how many people seem prepared to believe nonsense written and misrepresented by a few cranks on the internet over the overwhelming majority of scientific and medical opinion across the entire planet. Properly evidenced and peer reviewed studies and trials from the most reputable medical and scientific institutions and bodies on the planet are rubbished by a few nutters on the internet who misrepresemt information deliberalty and present it out of context to mislead the reader. It is sinister. 

If we listened to these types of whack jobs we would never have eradicated diseases, thanks to vaccines, which used to regularly kill thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of our citizens every year. Human beings have never had such advanced medical treatments and medical care than we have today and that is because we have, as with Covid, developed vaccines and trusted and relied up on the established and robust systems we have in place globally to develop treatments, drugs and vaccines. 

I'd suggest some time getting information from reputable sources who are so easily able to disprove the nonsense spouted on line.

I am not a scientist or a medical expert and therefore I will continue to follow the overwhelming majority of those that are. 

As to the broader issues of lockdowns and masks, those will be debated for many years to come. It is pointless and patently ridiculous to apply what is known now and then say that a different course of action should have been followed in March 2020. Facing the same data and same lack of knowledge about the virus and the course the pandemic would take, then there is no doubt countries would take the same action again. 

The reason we were able to push back and repeal and indeed vote against the continuation of these measures as many such as I did from the end of 2021 onwards was because vaccines and other treatments provided us with a way out. 

Had we not locked down when we did we could have seen many more deaths and many more hospitalisations than we did, all of which we would have had no effective treatment or vaccine to counter, save for oxygen therapy. 

There are of course legitimate questions to be asked about the modelling of those predicted figures on deaths and hospitalisations and those must be asked and will be asked via the inquiry that will take place. 

As politicians, we have to act on the available dates and advice at that time and faced with the same data and same advice and same lack of knowledge about the virus as we had then, I would have voted the same way again. 

As for masks, that is a hot topic which scientists themselves seem to have quite a debate on. For me, I was less interested at that time in the science of whether they effectively prevented transmission or not, but in their behaviour science impact in encouraging people to limit interactions, remember to wash hands and take care of feeling they had symptoms etc. All with the intention of, through behaviour, limiting spread as much as possible until treatments or a vaccine becAme available. 

Once we had those vaccines delivered, I voted against re-introducing mask mandates and restrictions from late 2021 onwards as I felt we had probably got to a position, thanks to vaccines and treatments and the weakening of the virus via Omicron, which was at the point which was the best we could get to. In other words, we had gone from pandemic to an endemic virus that had to be lived with. 

So in short, I have absolutely no truck at all with the anti-vaccine misinformation spread online and elsewhere. 

In terms of restrictions and lockdowns, those should be legitimately challenged and there are proper questions to be asked about those and whether we would do the same again. Those must be asked without applying hindsight to March 2020. At that time we were facing the world's first serious pandemic in generations from a dynamic virus which was little understood and the decisions taken then reflect the situation then. It is so easy after an event to come along and say, 'oh well maybe knowing what we know now, then we didn't need to do x,y or z for as long as we did or at all'. 

As to this WEF, oh for heaven sake, thats the stuff of online conspiracy theorists. Next you will be telling me David Ike has figured it all out or that chemtrails are a real thing! 

Sadly we've seen conspiracy theorist use the pandemic to further all sorts of conspiracy theories from 'its the Jews what created Covid' to 'the WHO or the WEF are trying to create a world government'. It's all utter utter balderdash! 

Global institutions exist in many forms to promote global cooperation and engagement and that is nothing but good. It's not some secret plan to create a new world order or whatever the cranks are calling it this week.

Correspondence

 Hello. It's a sunny start to the day. Cats fed, birds fed, and I must go shopping to replenish the cat food stocks and pick up a few items of food for myself. The video I posted yesterday on my Channel has had a good response, I try and reply to as many comments as time allows. 

I will do a copy and paste job here today with an email I recently sent to my MP. I have emailed him several times over the last two years, to find out his view on what is going on. Always a good idea to question those who are supposed to be looking after your best interests. If you are not sure how to email your MP you can find out here. Write to them.

I have been reading through your previous emails from the last two years. In light of all the data that has been recorded on the efficacy of the vaccines, I wonder if you have changed your mind about them. The death toll, and serious injuries, from the vaccines has overtaken that of covid deaths. Lockdowns and masks were the wrong course of action to take, which has now resulted in the decimation of small to medium businesses, rendering the country bankrupt. It seems the WEF globalisation is going according to plan. The pandemic was just the start of it, people are not stupid, they know what is going on. You may have a fight on your hands when it comes to election time.

Asking my mother

Phew that was a busy day. Coffee morning at the club. Busy and jolly. Someone brought me a duvet. I will cut it up and make pet beds with it. Someone was talking about a planned trip to Turkey where he is going to have a gastric band fitted. Not a topic I know anything about so it was interesting to learn. Lisa came, not seen her for ages. Latte, and a squishy creamy cake scoffed. 

Came home and watch UK Column News while I ate lunch. Then do a village walk, three miles. Call in to see Angela for a catch up chat, coffee and a glass of sherry. Watch the news on the tele and pull it apart. No swearing aloud. Come home and have a spud in the microwave with baked beans. Now relaxing.

Alternative news

 Talking about news, as I was on the last video, the Twittteratta has become my go to channel to find out what is going on. I have been told by those who wish to silence me, that it is a cesspit of charlatans and liars. Admitted there are a few dodgy characters on there, but it all depends on who you follow. I don't post much on there myself, I just read and take note of what is being said. There is a lot to learn from observing and digesting the words that appear on the screen. There are far more dodgy characters in the Government and Main Stream Media. 

Since the new owner has sorted out the wheat from the chaff, and sacked a lot of the staff, people are beginning to come out of hiding. Many of the blocked and banned are being re instated and are finding their voice again. The more the merrier I say. As with any information on the internet, it is up to the individual to pick out the bits that interest them, and discard the rest. We all have an on and off button. We can all snooze an article or video, put it in a folder and go back to it later if we wish to. 

The Biased Broadcasting Corporation are paid for by those with tons of money, so it makes sense to look elsewhere for your news if you wish to find out what is going on. With most people able to take photo's and make short videos with the device in their pocket, everything that happens can be out in the open immediately.

Sunny Sunday afternoon chat

Let's start this post with a video from yesterday. They take a while to upload so I usually start them off the day after I filmed them. 

After a lovely meal today I set off for another walk. Mushrooms, spinach, courgette, and spring onions on a slice of toast. Yum. 

Brrrr, it was cold, but I was rewarded with a gorgeous sunset. 

How do you like the zoomed in version of this one. 

I like this one without the bushes in front of it. I chose a slightly elevated position to take this. 

We had a few flurries of snow this afternoon but it didn't amount to much. I am still writing down my miles, but I am not pushing for the 1000 this year. That's all for now. We'll catch up soon.   Toodle pip.   ilona

Contrasts.

Coming back from a walk today, almost home. When you take too many photo's and can't decide which ones to use. Sod it, put them all on. I like numbers 2 and 3 the best. I like the footpath signpost, how it stands out as different from the trees. I like contrasts.

Sewing treats.

Good morning. So what else is there to view at a Quilt Show. Lots of goodies to buy, that's what. Browse the stalls and pick out anything that takes your fancy. I did buy a few fat quarters, some colours and designs I don't have in my stash. Spending my pocket money and choosing sweeties. 

Kits if you want to follow instructions and make a picture.

Like looking through the books in the library. 

Sewing machines if you are in the market to buy one. I bought my Janome from Couling in Lincoln a while ago.

More quilts

Oh dear, what a lot of photo's. It's difficult to choose when confronted with such beautiful artworks. I always think of quilts as being a covering for a bed, but these will never be used for a bedroom decoration, unless they are hanging on a wall. Some of them have a sleeve with a pole inserted through it on the back. Some have loops with a pole for hanging. 

Some of the leaves on this one are edged with floristry wire to give them a crinkly look. 

The close ups show how perfect the stitching is. 

These smaller quilts were equally just as beautiful. If you click on a photo a slide show will come up. Put your device on full screen for the best viewing. 

And I had to do a video as well. You can pause it if you want to study them a bit closer. I was maybe walking too fast. 

I took some photo's of the rest of the hall, these are the stall holders and what they had for sale. I will put those on tomorrow.

A look at the Quilt Show

Wotcha cock, I've been out today. I went to Newark Showground in Nottinghamshire, where they had a Quilt Show. I am a novice when it comes to quilt making. It's not something that I want to get into in a serious way. I like looking at them, but have no desire to spend 6 - 9 months making one. I'm guessing that it takes that long. I have lots of photo's so I will split them into two posts, more tomorrow. 

I think you will agree that these are pretty amazing. I have picked out all the colourful ones to show here. Come back tomorrow for more, and a video.
