No secrets

It is exactly one year ago when I posted a photo of this man on my blog.
When I read back I now feel sick that my words were full of praises. I along with millions of others were taken in by this vile disgusting individual. I feel so sorry for his family and his victims. I hope heads will roll at the BBC and those who covered up his actions will be brought to justice. I hope also that this case will send a message to any young person who is or has suffered sexual, mental, or physical abuse from anyone, that they will find the courage to come forward and tell someone. Do not suffer alone.

Now is the time to strip this evil man of his Knighthood.

  1. His Knighthood went when he died - 'tis the way of such things.

  2. I am glad that these things are able to be out in the open and discussed.

  3. I feel so sorry for his family and the charities that have had to close because of him.

I don't know how he lived with himself.

I hope whistle blowing becomes the honourable thing from now on.

  4. I am amazed at how many people were able to cover up for this "man." It is such a shame that he has died, as he should be made to answer for his crimes.

    1. Oh he is answering for his crimes now in a way no earthly court could provide.

  6. Ilona I'm glad you raised the subject of the revolting man. It's been upsetting me so much that this disgusting individual was allowed access to young people not only in the BBC but in care homes and hospitals too. Everybody who met him seem to have their suspicions yet he was never stopped. There is more to this than meets the eye and I'm now waiting for a few live ones to be brought to account for their actions or lack of action :(

  7. Ilona, well said, I was never very keen on him and now I think my sixth sense was right. I feel for the young people involved, the thing is these "stars" and I use the term very loosely think they are beyond the law and in this case it was sadly proven right, lets hope that in the future people can feel they can speak up regardless of who the perpetrator is.

  8. I met him back in 1977 - did a charity walk and then queued up for his autograph. He didn't say a word to me, just looked at me very directly, and I did feel uncomfortable (obviously at 18 years old I was too old for him!). It was clear he was a 'letch', mind you if I remember correctly, during the 1970's most men were viewed (by me and my friends) as being 'predators'. It was acceptable (by that I mean it happened a lot) to be whistled at, to be pinched on the bottom by strangers in a public place, to be openly leered at by strange men. There was a totally different attitude towards women and girls back then. And I guess he got away with it for so long because normal people find it hard to really believe that such 'evil' walks among us for all intents and purposes looking not just like us, but like a really good guy. Sadly the revolting man got away with it. So glad that times have changed and hopefully now that those brave people have spoken out against him, victims of other perverts will be encouraged to tell the truth and no one will be able to get away with this kind of thing ever again.

  9. I never liked him. I thought he was a ridiculous character, and quite creepy.

  10. It s awful when someone you admire turns out to be not what you thought. We feel that way about Lance Armstrong over here.
Biggest cheat in history - he has had all his titles stripped, he is banned for life and his sponsers have dropped him. I think his cancer charity is on the skids too. We also had a football coach at Penn State who everyone looked up to - total pedophile - just gone to prison for the rest of his life.
Dont feel bad - no one seemed to have known what JS was like - although there were plenty of complaints - about seven or eight I read.

  11. When a child watching Jim ll fix it I thought he was super cool. When older Late teens figured he was a weirdo and very false. We kept s picture of him in the toilet at my uni house tryi g to be studenty and alternative and humourous. We were spot on and never realised it. Yuk the creep.

  12. You weren't alone in being duped Ilona. A friend of a friend worked at St James' hospital and told us some unsavoury stuff about him a few years back, what a creep. I feel for his victims.

  13. Unfortunately it is reality that pedophiles will always find ways to hide their activities. It happens within the best of families, often going on for many years before it all comes to the front. All we can hope for is that the suffering victims will find courage to speak out. In Savile`s case it`s far too late to prosecute. Let`s hope that in the future inocent suferers can now be taken far more seriously and tip offs will be thoroughly investigated. To think how often this vile man had been reported to the police and always had managed to convince authority that he had not done anything. The mind boggles, but thus was society in those days. His status was excuse enough not to investigate into his activities more thorough. Let`s hope that authorities will learn a valuable lesson from the revelations brought forward now. Attitudes surely must change now!

  14. I'm glad you've posted this Ilona although it is a very difficult for me (and I know from talking to others many people) with this all over the news.
I was sexually abused and raped as a child by a number of people and am still living with the consequences.
As Sarina says pedophiles always find ways to hide what they do. It's always been the way even now when people are much more aware of it.
My thoughts are with his victims and I do hope attitudes will change but I somehow doubt it.

I only wish he was alive to face juctice.

  15. Don't beat yourself up about it. The vast majority of the UK knew him simply as a TV entertainer. You never know what evils people can get up to behind closed doors.

I too feel for his family (as well as his victims, of course). It must be shocking to learn this news, and for the whole country to rally against someone who they loved as a part of their family.

  16. I lived in the UK for from 1993-1995 and I always thought he was a creepy guy, and could never figure out why everybody praised him. I feel very sorry for his victims and hope that they at least get a bit of peace now that so much has come out into the open.

  17. Thanks for posting this. When I commented on it a few days ago I hoped I hadn't offended you. Seems that many people covered for this predator. The fallout will undoubtedly be huge....as well it should be.

  18. I wasn't offended Theresa. If there is an afterlife, I hope he is now suffering. I don't like revenge, but I do think criminals should be made to pay for the crimes they have committed.

Thank you Polly. I hope your bad memories will eventually fade a little, and you are able to get on with your life. I was sexually assaulted in a busy shop by a complete stranger when I was about 13. I lashed out at the man directly behind me, and still don't know if he was the right one. Instint told me he was, but he made a hasty exit protesting his innocence. I have never told a soul about that, untill now.

  19. Thank you Ilona. I live with it but it's far from easy.

I am sorry that you have experienced it too.

  20. He had a lot of people fooled. I just wish that they'd stop showing his smiling face on TV - it sickens me.

    1. I agree with you, his face on the news, and in the papers everyday. It must be horrific for all his victims. He's just scum and to think that he had Royalty, the police, BBC all in his back pocket. The people who knew about what he was like should have said something. Bit late now for them to say they knew what he was like. Vile, disgusting scum. Cheers, Christy.
