Home made cheap ready meals.

Hello. I spent Monday morning at Crafty Club, almost a full house this week. I took this picture with me to work on. Still a long way to go but I thought I would give you an update.

I had to leave promptly at 12 noon to get back for a phone call from Newstalk, an Irish national radio station. That came at 12.30pm. Not sure if the interview was live or if it was recorded for later. I'll have look to see if I can find it.
This is an M & S yellow sticker, apparently they mark down at about 5pm, there wasn't much when I was there last week, so I don't think I will be making regular visits. I made a very nice pan of soup with this, plus I added a large handful of spinach. There were two portions and it was lovely.
Tonight I couldn't be bothered to cook so I took a veggie stew out of the freezer. This was made with yellow stickers and cost very little. Even if you made something like this with full price vegetables it would still be cheaper than buying ready meals, and it doesn't take much effort to make it.

Perfect. Still tasty after reheating in the microwave. .

It's that time again guys and gals, the end of the month where the walking group send in their total mileage to date. I have finished Jan and Feb on 176 miles. Thank you to those who have sent your miles, you are doing just great. I am updating the page as the new figures come in. I'm pleased that you are still keen to carry on. If you haven't yet got off the starting block, or have got a bit behind, don't worry, there is still ten months left. Still time to catch up. Looking after your health and fitness levels is the best thing you can do for yourself.
Let sleeping dogs lie. Shhh, don't disturb him.
There is a new follower working her way through the whole blog. Mila is getting lost in 2012 at the moment. She has a mammoth task ahead of her, only four more years to catch us up. Everyone cheer her on.

It's bed time, thanks for popping in. Sees you soon. Toodle pip.

  1. Hi, Ilona! I'm glad you mentioned the miles; i'd forgotten i needed to send them in! (Although, it's still the 29th here) As soon as i walk the dog for the night, my total is 78 miles even! So happy after such a slow start! There's still room for growth, though.
Our weather has been atrocious; Our main road is closed to traffic with Husband on the other side! I'm bundling up for the dog walk.
    Lovely art, again!

  5. Just love the picture, Ilona. It's so colorful. Are you going to make a wall hanging out of it and what are the dimensions?

    Have a great week!

  8. You are an absolute inspiration. I've just given up my day job to write/freelance/volunteer. I was grabbed by the conviction that living on much less can actually free us to make the life we want. Wobbly first few weeks adjusting to not being in the office where everything is routine and safe (blogged about on givingupthedayjob.wordpress.com). Your lovely uplifting post has given me confidence again. Thanks!

    1. Good for you, Sophie. I've just had a look at your blog, it's great, I'll put it on the side bar.

I love that saying, 'make the life we want', that is exactly what we are doing. Good luck on your journey.

  9. Oops, just realised that I have not sent my mileage in, a good 93 this month. We have had a sunny spell which got me out 3 times a day for decent walks. I would have managed more if I didn't spend so much time oohing over Leo.

  10. I love your colourful picture Ilona and the photo of Rocky is gorgeous. He looks so peaceful. My mileage total currently stands at 157. It should have been more but I am at the mercy of the weather (I usually have my little girl with me). I had to laugh yesterday as I ran rather than walked my miles and my speed was picked up by one of those roadside speed thingies meant for vehicles! I won't be breaking any records anytime soon. X

    1. Of course you can m'dear, your name is still on the list. Get your boots on and stride out asap. You can go from March 1st to March 1st, or you can make a big effort and do it in ten months. The important thing is to do some walking.

  16. Love your artwork. I suspect you could make money selling it? I have seen this type of art for sale for a hefty price.

Your grocery finds encourage me. I am a newish follower. I have been hunting out frugal groceries, and do pretty good, but have so far found few at the level you do. However, having said that, I have to say, a lot of finding these "finds", is developing the habit of "looking". For me/where I live at any rate. I do much better with "finds" than I did a couple yrs back. MUCH
