Hello. Here is a full list of Walking Group members. I will copy and paste the list on the first of every month, to remind everyone who has signed up for it. Members should check in on the first of every month with their own mileage in a comment. Please do your own running total adding the months together so I don't have to do your sums for you. Don't worry if you are late, you can check in at any time but to keep it all in the same place please go to the post on the first of the month. To find it refer to the archive list on the sidebar. There are 69 names on the list.

I have reached 100 miles, a target I set myself in the middle of January. Here's how I did it.
I see someone has commented already in yesterdays post. I can copy and paste it in here, but your name will not show as a link.
Good luck everyone, lets have some numbers. Tell us how you are getting on, the highs and lows, how you feel, fitter or knackered, ha ha. If you are thinking about doing this get off your bum and take the plunge. Do it for yourself, make an effort to fit it in with your daily routine. You know it makes sense. I can add your name to the list on March the 1st.
Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

A super birthday day!

Hi Ilona, I have walked 67 miles in January.
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona
ReplyDeleteI have walked only 25 miles in January but have finally taken up Pilates-yeah. Catriona
Hello Ilona,
ReplyDeleteI walked 95 miles in January, off to a great start this year, thank you for doing this again! I was very happy to see I almost did as many miles as you this month ;)
Hello Ilona, 131 miles in January - am pleased as that is 4 more than Jan 2016! I know I have to do more in some months as when the garden gets growing again, it takes up a lot of time and energy. Vicki
ReplyDeleteHello Ilona. Please add me to 2017 walking group.
ReplyDeleteSonja, NC, USA, 98.8 miles for January 2017.
Thank you.
I am at 75.4 miles for January. I have large dogs that keep me motivated. They are excellent walking buddies🙂 Margaret in Maryland
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona a lowly 50 miles for me, like my teachers often said to me ..could do better,lol..thank you for doing this again.
ReplyDeleteI have done 69 miles not a bad start but hoping to improve as the months go on thanks for giving me the motivation
ReplyDelete83.5 miles in january 2017. I am happy with that for a gentle start, just short local circuits with the dog.
ReplyDeleteHello Ilona. Well done on your total especially with the tough month you've had.
ReplyDeleteI have done 107 miles so far but some of those have been easily fitted in because we were away on holiday and able to walk in the sunshine. I'm finding the strong winds and rain discourage me and am looking forward to some spring weather in another month or so.
It was really hard to start again in January as I'd not been out walking much around Christmas.
Good luck everyone for February. I take it one day at a time otherwise it seems a huge target to reach! Sue
Hi, Ilona, thank you for doing this. I'm a bit short for this month at 70.5 miles. Bad weather and the fact I've been ill for nearly a week and have hardly left the house has brought the month's total down by at least 10 miles. As soon as I'm back to full health I'll be trying to make up for it.
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona, I have managed 90 miles in January which I am very pleased with. I was "off the road" for a week with a nasty flu type virus, so was very pleased that some days before I had done the odd 5 miles + to up my overall total. I am feeling the benefits of regular exercise already, and am very glad I decided to take up this challenge. Jools
ReplyDeleteHello Ilona, I´m checking in for my husband Wences with a total of 161 miles walked this month (according to FitBit watch) He now has a routine of `just off to the library´ every day which is just around the corner but then disappears three hours.. so far he is loving the exercise and his retirement.
ReplyDeleteI walked just 42 miles in January. We had a lot of snow, so I could not walk on footpaths, and along the roads it was dangerous as they were so narrow because of masses of snow piled up at the sides.
ReplyDeleteI have to report in that my miles are zero; have had awful draining virus and done very little at all in January. However, fellow sufferers tell me that the bug is on the wain so I am not dis-heartened and have noted what I need to do to catch up (I'm cycling in kilometres). Amanda
ReplyDelete75 for me. Had an operation on my mouth to get rid of a long-term infection so did absolutely nothing for a while. This group rocks! Natalie
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona, 72.21 miles for me this month. Lucy is an excellent walking buddy.
ReplyDeleteTricia
Just checking in with my miles for this month which are 150. I was pounding the pavement last night to get the last couple of miles to round it off.
ReplyDeleteLooking good so far, I'm proud of you. Amanda, I hope you are feeling better, you will be able to catch up.
ReplyDelete43 miles for , stonking chest infection for 2 weeks , will make up the shortfall in Feb. Thanks for doing this Ilona it's a real motivator !
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona
ReplyDeleteMy total for january is 63 miles. That is the total number of miles where I actually go for a walk, I'm keeping a separate total for all of my steps, it's amazing how many you do just dodging about!
Hazel Dxb
Only 30 miles this month. We had 2 messy snow storms and I had both kids sick at home for a week (but not the same week) and the pup let me down - he's turned into quite the social butterfly and wants to visit with people and other dogs instead of walking. Dragging a big dog around gets very tiring. I'm hoping to do a lot better this month. Initially I felt really worn out but now it's getting addictive. I was out this morning without the dog and it felt really good to be moving. This afternoon with the dog, well any little bit helps.
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona, 92 for me this month
ReplyDeleteOnly 34.4 miles for me. I was down for over a week with what started out as just stomach flu but it wouldn't go away. Dr. thinks it was one of those viruses where you have to bleach everything you've touched. Ick! The only place I'd been was the grocery store so that's probably where I picked it up. Double ick!
ReplyDeleteJoan, Michigan
Embarassed to admit to only 41.4, almost at the back of the class. Will have to try harder in Feb.
ReplyDeleteOdette
Hey Odette, 41 is better than none. No need to feel embarrassed love. I will have weeks where I don't walk as much as I would like but will catch up when the weather is nicer. Keep going girl.. we are all in this together.
DeleteWell done with your miles everyone! I'vdone 56. I was going great guns but then had to slow down for a bit due to hip and knee pain which I think is arthritis....bit frustrated with my body but will use common sense and set an achievable target for me each week. I am already feeling more toned and the walking is definitely improving my sense of wellbeing. I find the hardest thing is getting out on freezing cold, wet days but the winter doesn't last forever and am hoping to be powering on this spring! Ilona, I am sending a second post as I did one earlier but my computer went weird and I'm not sure if you got it! Good luck for February everyone.
ReplyDelete113 miles in January. Bought a fitbit to measure the mileage and check my heart rate. Been trying to do 4 miles a day but not managed every day.

ReplyDeleteI walked 22 miles hope to do better this month
ReplyDelete117 miles in January. Most days are a 2 mile circuit at work at lunchtime and a short walk in evening. I also did a fair few miles whilst in Lanzarote for 4 days. Missed a walk on only one day and was really disappointed in myself. It is addictive!
ReplyDeleteIlona I'm proud to say that I managed 91 miles in January!
ReplyDeletejuless61 (sorry about anonymous post but Livejournal wasn't working for me)
22 miles in January
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona! I have 111 for January. I was sick for a week, but feeling accountable to check in with you I got started again instead of being discouraged. I'm moving a little slower because of my asthma, however, I'm still moving and that is the most important thing to me. Thanks for the motivation!
ReplyDeleteIlona, I realised that there are lot of Michele/Michelles on the group. I will change my moniker to Michele in Australia to help differentiate us. I walked 146 miles in January. Thank you so much for this group! It has been a extra incentive to get out walking.
ReplyDelete112 miles for January and enjoying it. Sarah.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice month everyone! Just 84 km in January. A lot of snow and ice, only three days with sunshine in a month - which is unheard of in my area- and a cold, is my excuse for this month. Hope I will do better in February.
ReplyDeleteHi all and well done up and down this month, total miles walked 51 I'm also keeping total steps separate. Good luckto you all for next month. Sue
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona, I did 86 miles in January. It would have been more but I had a rotten cold in the middle of the month. I love the way this challenge makes me go out even when I don't feel very active.
ReplyDelete226 for me, but the majority were done on the exercise bike because of joint pain and the plantar fasciitis playing up again. Walking a lot just isn't possible at the moment, but I need to exercise to keep me sane so the exercise cycle it is. I probably shouldn't be part of the 'walking' group because unless the medics work out what is wrong with me and can sort me out, walking a lot is off the agenda :(
ReplyDeleteWow, everyone is doing so well!! I've done 39 walking miles. I keep track of both walking and biking and I can see that I bike much more than I walk! I am going to commit to doing at least 11 more miles in February to get it up to 50, then keep going up from there. Again, Ilona, thank you for motivating us and keeping track!
ReplyDeleteHi Ilona, only 17 miles for me but that's more than i would have done without this challenge!
ReplyDeletemy husband and I walked 161.82 miles in January. We did not have much snow in south central Pennsylvania. Keep walking, Ilona:)
ReplyDeleteOh dear I have failed miserably by only doing 23 miles, I could give you loads of excuses but beside the lurgey everyone has had I don't really have any real, excuses, so from tomorrow I will do better, I have mapped out a two mile walk and I will do this at least 5times a week in either 2 or 4 mile stints
ReplyDeleteJane C
Recording 93k for January. A lot was indoors as the outdoor walking was not easy with all the ice and snow on the streets. Hope to log as many or more kilometres next month. Great to be part of a like-minded challenge group. Nanny Anny in Canada.
ReplyDeleteSooooo embarassed to admit I only managed 4 miles in January. Will try harder.
ReplyDeletesorry a bit late only manage 17.5 miles of brisk walking this month due to circumstances beyond my control. I actually do 12000 steps a day anyway but only count the walks with big dog. Hope to make up in February. Thanks Su
ReplyDeleteHi, Ilona!!! So happy to join in this happy band! I had 41 miles. Off to a slow start, but OFF nonetheless. Thank you for inspiring us all to get moving. You're amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd still they come rolling in. Let's get up to 69 comments by the end of February, the number of walkers in the group. You are all doing chuffin brilliantly.
ReplyDeleteFrom January 1st to February 2, 77 miles.
ReplyDeleteHello, 100.6 miles for me in January, just made by 100!
ReplyDeleteLo
Hi Ilona, 36 miles for Boxgrove Girl. I got a late start, but I'm now on the trail almost every day at noon!
