My Trucking Life. Part 1

The first video is done, I don't mess about, ha ha. Talk to the camera, I tell it as it is, warts and all. There may be hesitations, I may get my words mixed up, and I may repeat myself, that's how it is.  There will be more, but not at regular intervals, there will be gaps, they will be published as and when I have time to make them. I have made notes, that's it.

We are close to the end of the month, and it's check in time on Wednesday for the International Walking Group members. Let's have your numbers., one more day left to catch up.

  4. I enjoyed your video and so pleased you got your dream job. My husband worked at Nestle for a couple of years for Nestle in Hayes, Middlesex and he brought lovely Easter eggs for our children at a very reduced price. Look forward to read more.

  6. That was so enjoyable! Looking forward to the next episode. Looking back it's amazing the amount of discrimination and hassle we had to deal with!

  7. Oh, Ilona, that was brilliant! It was very interesting to hear how you even stumbled into this kind of a job. I think that you had fun telling us about it, too. Also, thanks for explaining that the truck bends in the middle. That made it easier to visualize. :)

  11. Great stuff! Hurry up with the next episode (please)
Glad you followed your dream. I will always remember my Father's expression when I said I'd like to be a lorry driver - after he'd sent my through a private school education! Never got there as married young, divorced, had a family to support and needed to be home each night but my favourite job found me driving all over the Westcountry, albeit in cars. Must be in the blood; my mother was on her third car when she married in 1939 and drove ambulances in WWII and now my daughter drives all over the country for her work.
To be honest I think long hours on the motorways would soon have dulled the magic of the open road for me. I loved driving and getting to all sorts of different places but I was free to explore the more interesting routes. And no satnav of course - much more fun.
Anyway looking forward to hearing your tales

  12. This was really interesting to watch and you positively glowed as you told the story ( as Debi mentioned). I found myself smiling at the screen during the entire video.

  16. I loved that video. As soon as you said BRS it reminded me of my late dad who used to work for them back in the 70s. I had his BRS card for years - actually probably still got it somewhere. Look forward to the next one. Leigh

  19. Great video Ilona. I really enjoyed watching this and am waiting in eager anticipation of the next one. I think it’s a shame a filmmaker didn’t make a documentary series of you when you were driving as it would have made compulsive viewing.
