Memories

I thought I would dig out a few pictures to remind myself of some of the lovely places I have been to, people I have met, and a few of the highlights.
East Ravendale. Lincolnshire. I imagine this to be a natural cathedral.
Edale Derbyshire. Helicopter picking up bags of stone to deposit them on Kinder Scout to build up the path on the Pennine Way.
I can remember the exact spot I took this one. Close to my village. There are pictures on your doorstep if you look.
Arriving at the Humber Bridge on the last day of a seven day walk.
A glorious sunset, one of many. You can't have too many sunsets.
Fabulous Windermere. I must go to The Lakes again.
My yacht. Parked at Canary Wharf in 2012 for the Olympics. Owned by an Australian businessman.
Going to a fancy dress party with my friend Julie.
Henry and Rocky. We had lovely walks together.
Bamford. Derbyshire.
Grandma's house where I spent most of my summer holidays as a child.
I painted the snow on my front garden.
Just for a change, I went red.
I think I had better stop there. I must have posted thousands of photo's over the twelve years.
I hope you like them, my filing system is terrible, they are all over the place. I'll sign off and say Goodnight and Toodle pip.  ilona

  1. It's always fun to look back. I happen to live by the Humber bridge in Toronto! I visited Lake Windermere many years ago and it was beautiful. Love the painted snow in your garden!

Have you thought anymore about where you will go on this year's trip?

    1. Just playing with ideas at the moment. A shorter trip first to see if it works.

    1. I first read something about the yacht on a news page, which made me Googlie it. There is a site called Marine Traffic which gives the locations of where boats are in the world. I saw it was going to be in London so I made a point of going there.

    1. Grandma's house was just outside Barton under Needwood, Staffordshire. In the countryside, only about six or seven estate cottages. we roamed all over the surrounding fields.

  5. Oh it's lovely to pull up[ old photos isn't it, but it's like falling down a rabbit-hole, what was going to take half an hour turns into three hours quite easily. Lovely to see Rocky again, and did you really carry that ladder round to a party ;-)

    1. Yes, I really did. It was at the local club so I walked there, carrying the ladder.

  7. I enjoyed your old photos and the memories you shared. I wonder what will happen to all of the digital photos we take these days. Will they be lost forever when we are gone? So many of my family memories are triggered by the old photos my family kept. Boxes and scrapbooks of fading photos - sometimes dated and identified - some just a guessing game of what relative that might be! I think of baby pictures now shared through texts - will there be a record of these for the baby to see when they have grown up? I wonder about this!

    1. I wonder about that also. It would be a shame to lose them all. If the internet continues in the same format they may be available for years to come. Anyone who wants to keep copies would have to get them put on a memory stick, or print them off.

  8. I wonder if that was my son in your helicopter photo? He built part of the pennine way , handling those big slabs on the helicopter drops. Some of the slabs disappeared into the boggy parts, along with equipment. It was often a cold, wet and difficult job. Pam
