Today was a very nice day

Monday morning and Crafty Club has started again after a four month break. We can now use the Village Hall. The tables are well spaced out with gaps between them, two people at each table. We can only talk with the people close to us, it's difficult to have a conversation altogether without shouting. Everyone must use the sanitizer on entering and leaving. The kitchen is closed bring your own drinks. We will have to get used to the new way of doing things.
I went across the road and had a coffee with my friend after. She has a big kitchen so that's alright. She was keen to show me her garden, it looks great, She spends most of her time in the garden.
After lunch I went a walk. Passing the Bowls Club I see they have started up again. It's limited to four players at any one time at the moment.
The allotments are looking very full, plenty of fruit and veg growing there.

Last week the path down the edge of this field was waist high in weeds. Thankfully someone has been down there with a machine, and now it's easy. Despite the threat of rain, there were a few spots, it was a very pleasant walk. I made a short video, it's too late to up load now, so I'll do it tomorrow.
The sun is still out so I'll go outside and do a bit of hedge trimming with the shears. Catch ya tomorrow. Toodle pip.  ilona

  1. It is so lovely when we can see things getting back. Oh to be at your crafty club. Nothing like that here yet.

  2. How nice some things are starting up again. Our church is meeting in person next week, wow, but I think I will wait a week to go back. I am still concerned about people not wearing masks.

  3. That sounds like a wonderful day and glad for you that your craft club has started up again. But, it seems strange to me not to see anyone wearing masks. As of tomorrow they are mandatory inside all public space (so you would have to wear one during your club) and they have been mandatory on public transit since last week so really the only place they aren't mandatory (but are strongly urged) is outdoors. Because of the requirements in so many other places it's just easier to wear one all the time.
My church was able to open a few weeks ago but we have decided to stick with Youtube until September. Canada is being very cautious and everyone I know is quite happy with that.
I'll look forward to your video.

    1. We are in a corner of the country that no one passes through. Almost an island with water on two sides. People do move about within their own bubble of friends, some people come for business and leave again, but mostly there is no other reason for people to come here. The towns/cities of Doncaster and Lincoln are a different matter, bigger with more passing traffic, more people travelling in and out.

    2. Yes, that does make a difference. I hope you continue to be so well protected in your lovely little spot.

  4. Here in the United States the virus is ramping up again and places are re-closing... so no gathering for us. At least people shouldn't anyway... but they still do. That's how the virus got a foot-hold again, in the first place. Stay safe! ~Andrea

    1. I think that might happen here. People think they are immune, but no one is. They gather in large groups, sad to see. Sad that they can't think for themselves, and follow like sheep.

  5. What a delight to see things getting back to normal, sadly still not happening here yet but I am sure it will soon. I was surprised no one was wearing masks.

    1. It's a relief to have some structure back in my life, even if it is only for two hours on a Monday morning.

  6. Looks like things are moving forward. It's a good day for a walk too by the look of it. I'm still self-isolating. Though things are easing up it isn't the places I want to visit. Even my local library branch is closed until September at which time they will reopen with all kinds of new ways of doing things. For now I'm reading digital books and getting things done inside. the rain has been too much for my small garden.

    1. Our main library in the town has opened. Haven't looked into how it might work though. All I want to do is return my books, I won't be borrowing any at the moment. No time to read them, and I will only get some new ones from the mobile library, that's if Stan still has his job and comes back again.

  7. Pleased you started you craft club, a few things have started up here but it's only the outside activities, i have only seen i person with a mask on in the street and I think that because he visited an elderly person everyday. The wind has bropped quite a bit thank goodness and it looks it going to be a nice day.

  8. There are a lot of comments showing surprise at no-one wearing masks, but to be honest I have hardly seen anyone wearing masks in our part of Wales, you see one or two being worn in Tesco but that seems to be it. When I do need some shopping now I'm back at the Van I will have a mask with me in case things are different here, but up to now I have only seen the caravan parks handyman wearing one when he has to be up close to someone for a job.

We do need definitive rules about the wearing of them I think.

    1. Yes, there should be some consistency with the rules on mask wearing, but to be honest, whatever they decide it will be almost impossible to police it. On busses would work ok, or in confined places, inside buildings, but it isn't going to work at outdoor raves when everyone is blotto. I can't see the police making large numbers of arrests, think of the paperwork and how to keep them in custody.

In the beginning the police were too heavy handed, now that people know they can get away with breaking the rules they will do.

    2. The only people I've seen wearing masks when out and about is the very elderly - and I can quite understand that, otherwise everyone just avoids getting too close to anyone else, walking an extra step to avoid going too close

    3. I have worn a mask and gloves since before lockdown and here in still lockdown Leicester,I think that it should be made compulsory due to the rise in covid 19.Due to people not sticking to the advice...and still not,I might add..it isnt fair on the rest of us that have done every thing right.2 doors from me all 4 of the house hold have it and I am scared.xx
