Keep fit with Meanqueen

Hey, here I am with my baggy shorts on, keeping fit on my trainer. Blimey, look at my sparrow legs, ha ha. I could do with a bit more meat on them there bones.

  1. Yes, you are a fit old bird! I'm getting fit after breaking my arm (and the other stuff). I'm lifting hand weights for half an hour each day...but now I've seen your trainer I think it would be great for me in the winter because I can't snow shoe every day.

  2. You go girl! How long do you train for on rainy days?

  3. I'd love a cross trainer! You look so fit and healthy! Sparrow legs? I don't think so! Your legs to me look healthy and toned! You're in such great shape for an 'old bird' - better than a lot of young birds, probably me included!

  4. Hey! We've got one of those, but it hardly ever gets used. We should both use it every day, especially now that neither of us can walk as far as we used to, bad spine, heart, etc. I could do with sparrow legs actually, mine are too fat. Swimming helps us 'old birds' as well, especially as I can now get in to our local pool for free! How long do you use it for every day? Ann x

  5. I got one from Freecycle, but have now just Freecycled it again - just don't have the time for it. I'll stick to walking. (when I get time)

  8. Great to see you on the move, lol. Gone up in the world, I see. Doing video tutorials now.
How about doing these videos on your frugal cooking and shopping? I`d watch them. I`m pretty sure you could put them on YouTube and get others to follow them there, too. Just an idea. Meanqueen Live, straight to your front room, lol.

  9. Nothing wrong with your pins Ilona! Fit, healthy not just for your age but for ANY age. As for being an old bird - well I can give you a few years and I'm still cycling & keeping myself fit and healthy, so years and years ahead of you yet. I think it's great to have your cross trainer, I don't have the room although I do have a little turbo trainer in the garage which a bike sits on for bad weather, just as you say, to keep your legs moving and get your heart racing a little. Let's see more of these videos please.

  10. I would fall right off that Between torn rotator cuff, torn meniniscus, herniated disc, and last vertebrae sitting on bone, I am lucky to be able to walk. Surgery should fix it all so I can just do my regular walking. I don't think your legs look too skinny. Stop that talk.

  14. Good heavens Ilona you have the legs of a young lady. I really need to sort myself out - I used to be so slim like you but now I'm overweight. I lose it easily enough, but I put it back on when I get bored of the bike and the food. I'm glad I've seen a cross trainer in action because I've been thinking of saving up for one as I can only do so much on the bike before I get a sore bottom! Also it looks like a good upper body work out too. Please can you tell me the make and model of your cross trainer as it looks good. Thanks.

  15. I think if I had one of those trainers it would be a passing fad.
You can have some of the padding on my legs if you like, I'd like to of load it. lol

  16. Well done Ilona. Exercising, breathing and talking at the same time. Not sure I could manage all three. HaHa!
I like to exercise to music to keep a rhythm going. Gotta be rock and roll tho.

  17. Brilliant little video.

You are indeed a 'fit old bird' and your legs are lovely, it's the baggy shorts that make them look even thinner, maybe a tutorial in 'taking in shorts' should be in the pipeline......lol.

Keep it up, you put me to shame.

  18. Ooo Where did you get that bit of kit from! I do like a cross trainer but not the expense of joining a gym just to use one!

  19. You are looking really good Ilona, nice muscular legs and I like your hair color.

  20. Hi. I bought the cross trainer from Tesco.
    http://www.tesco.com/direct/kelly-holmes-cross-trainer/211-6550.prd?skuId=211-6550&pageLevel=
Here it is listed at £249. It was a lot less when I bought it I paid £116 and made the rest up with vouchers, total about £160. I think it was on special offer at the time.

Eeek I wouldn't pay to join a gym either. I have this machine for life now.

I don't spend hours on it, I don't follow a plan, just hop and off when I feel like it, up to half an hour a day.

  21. I have a stationary bike in my living room. Unfortunately I don't have a free corner like you do it takes a bit chunk out of my living room. However I love having it there because it means I use it sometimes. Now that my leg is not as painful as it has been for a few years I'm using it at least 3 times a week and sometimes more. I would never be able to get to the gym that often and nor do I want to spend the funds for that. You do far more than I do by way of fitness and people like you help to inspire me or keep me going. Thanks for that!

  22. I have the opposite of sparrow legs thanks to lots of running and gymnastics as a youngster and have to work very hard to keep them muscular so they don't run to flab and fat! My late uncle lost a leg in a motorbike accident when he was seventeen years old so when I am moaning about my fat legs I always try to remember how lucky I am to have two!
