I thought it was about time I did a little video, so here ya go. Me making pet beds and seat covers out of second hand bedding, with a helping hand from Mayze. Please excuse her bottom, she is a bit shy of cameras.
The large duvet has been cut up and I have nine more small ones to make up. And I've still got another duvet upstairs that is waiting for the chop, plus a couple of pillows. I must stop taking in any more for the time being. So much to do and so little time. I gave Crafty Club a miss this morning because I have been busy here. Mundane stuff is stifling my creativity, must get back to my art. ilona

Hi Ilona,You know I really love it when I go to your blog and you have made a video!I think that is great that you with get every bit of use out of something.I so wish that I lived nearer so that I could buy some of your pet cushions.Ok,I could maybe make them myself...but an Ilona one would be alot more special!!.Ive have done a bit more decluttering today...Why have I got 3 pairs of burgundy corded trousers,lol..so a pair of them are out for the charity shop.A couple of books that will go to the charity book table at the co op...this is great because every time you go there, people have donated some more,so you have a new book to read and by donating them back someone else has the chance to enjoy them.Ive also put aside a table runner,a cardigan and a pair of boots that are far to high for me to wear now!.It feels good when you know that they can have a life else where and your making a ...very small,lol...space in your wardrobe!xx
ReplyDeleteExcellent video!! If you watch it'full screen', you get a huge closeup of the cat's bot - v funny and what a diva!! When I get round to de- cluttering my fabrics (most of which have been unused for ages), I will definately try out your idea .. I know my cats would like. Thx for the monday morning entertainment!
ReplyDeleteI reuse bedding ( sheets and Duvet covers) by tearing them into strips and crocheting floor mats . I simply tie the ends together and go. By some magic the knots all end up on the same side so you get to choose between displaying a fluffy mat or turn it over and have a smooth mat. I use a large crochet hook and it’s fast and easy. Been doing it since I was a kid- my mum taught me .
ReplyDeletehi ilona mayze heidi and oscar - loved your video on recycling thank you for giving us ideas. i love your beautiful cats i have the same problem with amy and benny sometimes they adore each other kisses all the way and at other times they have disagreements. but like you i love them dearly and make our lives so much better. i think i will declutter and start recycling asap. yes the weather is topsy turvy at the moment hailstones strong winds and occasionally sunny spells. but the good news is we are coming into the good months you always lift up our spirits and i enjoy so much your videos. love liz amy and benny.xxxxxxx at present they are getting on ok.xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea - our cats love to get on the furniture and I usually use a blanket (like Oscar's) but the smaller quilts would be easier to wash. Loved seeing your cats in action :)
ReplyDeleteI have not got any animals now but I do crochet small blankets with odd wool and give to a charity. I would make small quilts when I replace my quilts.
