The Beast speaks

Hello. I am planning a week of celebrations for my birthday. I spotted a snippet in the local paper about an event in Scunthorpe which would fit in nicely on the Friday night, so I bought a ticket. The Beast of Bolsover, Dennis Skinner, is always entertaining when he stands up and says his piece at Parliamentary meetings. Although his speeches have a serious message, it's the way that he delivers them which have the most impact. Dennis tells it like it is in his own colourful language. He has balls, he has guts, and he is not one to follow the crowd. I am looking forward to seeing him in the flesh.

Here is a yoootooob video of him being kicked out of the House of Commons, yet again.

Raining again, more sewing. Catch up later. Toodle pip

  2. Great video. I have the utmost respect for Dennis Skinner. It's rare to see a politician being so honest and ballsy. He really does stand up for what he believes in. It should be a very entertaining night.

  3. He's very entertaining. He signed his book for me in Waterstones last year. I live not far from his constituency but he's not my MP - I wish he was as he calls a spade a spade and isn't afraid of what ifs!

    1. Totally agree, there are too few honest men like Dennis Skinner in politics and we are the poorer for it.

  5. Entertaining he is, however he certainly has an eye to generating his own publicity. He may have got an answer to his question if he had withdrawn the dodgy lol. Enjoy the evening though it should be fun

  6. Much as I admire his forthright manner, I think that he should have withdrawn the offending word in order to get an answer to his question. I also wonder how anything ever gets done, what with so much commotion from the house whenever anyone says anything.

    1. I would have liked to hear a reply too ... but doubt there would have been a straightforward answer. So think the guy did the right thing refusing to back down :)

  12. I wish Dennis Skinner was my MP instead of the mealy mouthed, fox hunting, badger culling, arrogant yoik currently holding that position.

  13. happy birthday - we are cycling to Riccall near Selby to celebrate DH's 65th BD on Friday - pushing the boat out and staying one night B&B before cycling home - about 150 miles to add to the weeks total.
