Glorious Autumn

It was a nice day for a walk in the park yesterday. I wanted to catch the colours before all the leaves fell to the ground. It was fairly windy so I hoped they hadn't already fallen. Thankfully no, still some spectacular sights to see. I took the first two pics as I passed someone's garden.

Walking along the roadside on the way to the park.

Entering the park, there is a camp and caravan park on the field behind the trees.

The childrens playground is empty, love the multicoloured picnic tables.

Just outside the walled garden. Look at that stunning orange tree, got to see more of that.

Oh my, I came over all emotional, so beautiful.

A few flowers left.

A wander over to the pond, it's like a magical fairyland.

Around every corner some new colours to see.

Love the stark dark trunks against the last of the leaves before they fall.

The ducks gathering for their afternoon chatter.

A bit too chilly to sit down, I'll just stand still for a couple of minutes and gaze at the gorgeous trees.

The house is closed at the moment.

So many wonderful Autumn scenes, the light is fading, time to head home. Five miles added to my total walked.  Click on a picture to enlarge and see a slide show. ilona

PS. I've had two phone calls this morning, one a recorded message supposedly from British Telecom, telling me my internet connection was going to be terminated today, the other a human voice with a foreign accent, said he was from Microsoft and asking about my computer. I don't think so. Ignore.

  6. Beautiful fall shots. Bloody scammers! In Canada one of the scammers is from our Taxation department - apparently it is so bad (we've gotten several calls) the real taxation department is having difficulty getting ahold of anyone for real tax cases, even when they mail out requests.

  11. Gorgeous photos Ilona. The autumn colours are spectacular at the moment. Maybe you could do a separate post about the phone calls. People do get taken in by these scammers and you need to be especially vigilant if you have an online bank account. My neighbour got duped by something like this and lost his life savings.

  12. Autumn is beautiful.I love the changing of the seasons and this time of year is my favourite. They are lovely photos.I get lots of leaves in my front garden but I dont mind because I love the sound of them crunching underfoot.Every so often I sweep them up and they all go into the compost. The phone calls you mentioned we get most days or even late evening. They get on my nerves but when Ive got the time, lol,I play along with them and they end up putting the phone down on me,lol. They make me mad cause they keep ringing my 85 year old Mam,with no thought of what time of the day it is.Once I told them to stop ringing cause I was waiting for a call from the doctor about some results...I wasnt,lol...n the cheeky sod said that he was the doctor and my results are very bad!! Most of them are vile people!.I cant believe that you still read in the papers about people giving their bank details to some scammers.I dont know how they are allowed to keep getting away with it.xx

  15. Autumn is my favorite season. Thank you for sharing the pictures. I live in the U.S. in a cold state. We lost our leaves about a month ago and last night we got snow (which I also love). Two weeks ago we had snow for four days in a row (nothing stuck to the ground). Isn't it strange how leaves are their most brilliant when they're dying? Have a wonderful rest of your week!!

  16. Beautiful northern hemisphere autumn colours: we just don't get them here to the same extent. Absolutely lovely. You know Ilona the scammers must be doing OK because those calls just keep coming. We've had repeated calls over the last month, sometimes two calls per day. Just before I read a story from a lady who got scammed. She was warning readers about giving access to computers and/or giving out bank account numbers or any other personal information for that matter. She wasn't able to recover her money. Very sad. I think it is good to spread the word because people get caught out when the call comes at a time when they least expect it. The woman who got scammed big time said her call came through very late at night when she was half awake. My husband asks for information that identifies the caller. Me, I am thinking getting a whistle to blow down the mouth piece.

  22. Hi , we get these phone calls frequently too, and for sky tv which we don't have. You can never find their number to report them, I don't know how you stop these scams apart from putting your phone down and ignoring them. We had one caller asking us to turn on our computer so they could get in it and check it, not likely! We put down the phone and leave the computer switched off for a while, but I would like them to be stopped and get their comeuppance. I saw the add and liked it, they ought to publish the story book 'Orangutan in my bedroom'. It's a good move. Sunpat don't use palm oil, only peanut oil. My family gift me handmade soap with all natural ingredients, no palm oil and I check cosmetics when I buy them. Lovely photos. They would look good on exhibition to show the positive side of living in scunthorpe area.
