Next door to the Cash and Carry is a junk/second hand warehouse. The man doesn't come very often, and when he does come, he doesn't stay long. I saw him today so I had a nosy, and a bit of a banter with him. I noticed a wooden bowl with plastic fruit in it, I said, how much is it. He said £5. I said oh that's too much, I only want the fruit, don't like the bowl very much. Just as I was about to go he reached for a bin bag and emptied the fruit into it, and said here you are, you can have them. How kind.
So now I have a fruit salad tree, ha ha. Grapes, banana, tomato, apples and oranges.
These fuschias are looking nice in the three pot planter. The hanging vegetable steamer is nice.
Lots of pink in the garden at the moment. The rain last night has given things a good drenching. I hope we have some more tonight.
Tomorrow me and Angela are going to the Scrapstore. I picked up some vinyl and some wood for them, and I have a lot of plastic mushroom trays they can have. Trying to de-clutter some of my own stuff. Toodle pip
Your garden is looking great Ilona. I was wondering if there was a scrapstore near Nottingham as I would like some vinyl to make some flowers. Perhaps you can recommend a shop that sells it. Like the fruit salad tree.
ReplyDeleteOrdinary shops open to the public don't normally sell vinyl. Scrapstores collect scrap materials from businesses. If you Google Scrapstore Nottingham it comes up with this...

it's at Alfred Street North. Stocks change all the time, they may or may not have vinyl, it all depends who they collect from.
You are a star thanks for your help
DeleteFuschias!!!,Thats the word that I have been looking for all afternoon! My Mam has them growing in her garden, and we just could not think of there name..so Thank you for that!Nice of that guy to give you the plastic fruit,at least you have made good use of it.I wish that we could have some rain in Leicester.Yesterday,my Hubby felt a spot on his lap...then I did...then ran n got washing in...then no rain,lol,...You said that you were taking vinyl to the scrapstore.I know that you dont sell things on here..but it might be worth looking on sites for wanted records.I found out that my 1960s Love Affair LP,is worth about £30!...Not that I would sell it cause Im still waiting for Steve Ellis to marry me....Anyway..moving on,lol..You can make fruit bowls, art, bird feeders..lots of things from vinyl.A couple of years ago,i made my very trendy Grandaughter a wall art LP at a festival and she still has it on her bedroom wall.Vinyl has many uses!!xx,
ReplyDeleteI don't have any vinyl records.
DeleteThere are some very kind people around. I think if you are P,ease the to them, most people respond similarly
ReplyDeleteI'm abit confused here Illona. Do you mean pieces of vinyl flooring or old vinyl records?
ReplyDeleteNeither. Vinyl you can cut with scissors.

Your garden is looking very green and fruity and you mentioned rain ? What is that ? We are now in week 7 here in Mid Norfolk with no rain, the rain symbol comes up on the 5 day forecast and then it disappears again, we now have a brown lawn, at least we are saving on petrol for the mower. Time for a rain dance!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers x
ReplyDeleteI think your fruit tree is quirky and lovely. Myself, am wondering how many folks will stop and ask if you grafted all those different fruit onto one tree....Bet some will.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of the man to give you the fruit. I do like your fruit "tree", very effective. My favourites are the grapes and the banana.
ReplyDeleteI like hanging things from trees, generally solar lights and mobiles, alas I have no plastic fruit.:-)
My tubs are looking good but the fuchsias and geraniums planted in the garden are having a tough time. It doesn't help that when I water them the mole comes up underneath where I have watered ! Still, hey ho, only to be expected when you are after worms. Never mind.:-)
Will be interested to see what you get from the scrap store, wish we had one round here.
You make such a happy garden! It shows your personality.
ReplyDeleteAs a person who is currently collecting vinyl dolls heads for a garden project , i can appreciate the fruit tree
