Art show at Skipton.

Hello, back again. Coffee morning done, cleaning the floors done, eaten lunch done, Video ready.

I didn't take any close up photo's of the art, but I can tell you that the creativity, standard, and quality of the work is first class. I'll show you in another post what I bought for myself. Two long shots, now see the movie.
Time is getting on, I must go for a walk. See ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona

No thank you.

Getting ready for Coffee Morning. See ya later alligator, in a while crocodile.

Night time visitors

Let's have another hedgehog pic. They are still coming every night. They appear within five minutes of putting the food out. Tonight they were super quick, I didn't even have time to shut the back door. They are noisy eaters, making snuffling noises. Looking rather big now with all the scoffing.
Fun to watch.  Toodle pip.   ilona

A walk before the Art Show

Sunday morning at the Auction Mart. The Show starts at 10am so I had time to explore the area. First a coffee, and watch some of the early bird exhibitors arrive. They looked very arty, plenty of colour, they looked the part. The College is next door so I thought I would have a look at that. There is a footpath between the two sites. This is a picture taken from the top of the steps looking down over the Auction buildings. Love the hills in the distance.
The College looks very impressive, I had a nosey around. Nobody there on a Sunday morning during the summer holidays. The students are very lucky to have these facilities available to them. I almost wished I could take a course there. I was thinking about Rita from Educating Rita, remember that film? She was sat on a bus and asked the young man next to her, if he was a student. When he replied yes, a big grin went across her face as she said, 'So am I'.

This wall fascinated me. How can you make a curved wall with straight pieces of wood. Each piece perfectly measured. How good is that. The ends perfectly cut to fit the wall.

Take a look at this short video and admire the views.
Still an hour left to explore before I go into the show. I wanted to find the canal which runs close by. I might get a walk along the towpath later on before I go home. Yep, found it.
A lot to do in the garden today. I'll be back tomorrow with another video of the Art Show.
Catch ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona

Epicetetus says . . .

I found this is a very useful video. How to understand bullies, and how best to deal with the situation if you should find yourself a victim. Why do they do it, and how you should respond.
Now to get breakfast and set my second video to upload from the Skipton weekend, while I get on with other jobs I need to do.

A look at Bolton Abbey.

I set off on Saturday morning, destination Skipton in Yorkshire. It was about lunchtime when I stopped at Bolton Bridge. A place I haven't explored very much before, worth a look. I remembered there were six free parking places just off a roundabout, on a short dead end road. I held my breath as I turned right. Yes, my lucky day. Five cars parked and one empty space. I was soon in there. Within a few minutes of pulling in, two cars stopped and asked me if I was leaving. Phew, that was close, a few minutes later and I would have lost it. Good timing.
The plan was to take a walk along the River Wharfe, heading north towards Bolton Abbey. It was a lovely day for it, plenty of sunshine. Lots of people were out, children playing in the river.
Big house close to the Abbey.

Here is some information on the Bolton Abbey web site.  More details on the Wiki site.

The River Wharfe is very fast flowing.

This is the Cavendish Memorial. Here is the story behind it.
There is an official car park for Bolton Abbey. It's close by for those who cannot walk so far. Payment only accepted by card, no cash.
When I got back to the car I decided to get some food before I moved on to Skipton. I made up a noodle  pot with hot water, but it was so spicy hot just a small taste set my mouth on fire. Could not eat that. I had a sandwich instead. Every time I car camp I bring back food that I haven't eaten. Always take too much.
Have a look at the video.
I arrived at the Auction Mart Skipton at 8pm. It's a big place, lots of buildings, big car parks. I tucked myself away in a corner with hedges around me, hoping that nobody would turn up. They didn't, and I was in bed by 9pm.
Come back tomorrow for the next episode. A walk before the Art Show.
Thanks for popping in. Toodle pip.   ilona

A belting weekend

What an amazing weekend that was. Saturday I went to Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire and had a lovely walk along the river. Then I drove to the Auction Mart at Skipton where I stayed the night in my car ready for the Art in the Pen event today. This morning I was up early and went a walk, and spent most of the day at the Art Show. I left there at 3.pm and drove to the centre of Skipton where I had a walk along the canal and around the town. The castle was just closing but I have seen that before.
Back home for just after 8pm. Very happy, met some lovely people, now I've got the photo's to sort out, plus three videos to upload.

Will catch up with you tomorrow. Toodle pip.   ilona

No thanks.

I called in to see a friend yesterday, she was chucking this fast food wrapper in the bin. Her granddaughter had bought a MacD whatever it was, and hadn't eaten it. I never go in those places so I have no idea what they serve up.
The Tango bottle was empty, and the Fleurs Kitchen bag was empty. Don't know what was in that, looked a bit chocolaty inside, a pudding maybe. But the erm, burger thing hadn't been touched. I'm not surprised, look at the state of it.
What the chuffin heck is that? It looks revolting. I can just see a small slice of plastic cheese under a piece of shoe leather, in between a cheap white toasted bun.
Do people really buy this awful junk, do they actually eat it? I wonder how much it costs? I wouldn't give you 10p for it.
No thanks. I won't be calling in MacD's, or any other fast food places.
Have a good weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

Another Weekend Watching.

An Ivor Cummins interview, with James Delingpole. With this video, you don't have to watch it, you could be getting on with some stitching or knitting, and just listen.
I'm passing this on because I get a lot of questions from people who genuinely want answers on what is going on. Even though I have been watching, listening, and learning for a long time, I still don't know everything. Nor do I have the time to get into long conversations, this is why I delete a lot of comments.
Everyone with a computer has access to the same information as I do. People can chose to explore their curiosity, or they can carry on with their day to day activities and ignore everything that is unfolding.
What is happening now, goes back years. Ivor Cummins digs deep, it's what he does. He has studied the history of the Rockefeller Foundation, which is just one small cog in the wheel of pushing this agenda. Find out what their strategy is for the next pandemic.
Anyway, I'll leave it with you. I'm going to watch the rest of this video.

Arty crafty chat.

This is the almost finished picture of the plastic straws project. I show the finished piece in the video below.
Someone gave me these three metal garden decorations a year or two ago. They were rusty so I spray painted them. I noticed they were looking a bit shabby, the paint had faded. I have spruced them up a bit with some fresh acrylic paint and nail varnish. Will get another year or two out of them before the rust spreads and they are beyond repair.

I thought it was about time for a crafty video.
It's been sunny and quite hot today. I have been busy in the garden, hedge cutting. I will probably ache a bit tomorrow with all the stretching.
Moderating the comments is taking a bit longer while I do extra checks. It appears we have imposters in the camp using various identities.
Thanks for popping in. Catch ya tomorrow. Toodle pip.

A look at Cawthorne Village.

Hello. It's been a lovely day today, the sun has been shining. I went to Coffee Morning, then for another coffee and a natter with a friend. After a late lunch I did a five mile local walk.
This is the last video from the Cannon Hall trip.
The village of Cawthorne is really nice. I spent half an hour in the churchyard sitting on a bench. Lovely and peaceful.
Someone told me about this gravestone so I searched for it. Note the ages of the young people who died in this disaster, and the names on the pieces of coal along the bottom.

I took a picture of this house, just because it is in a lovely setting.
When I first entered the village I was disappointed to see that the Museum was closed. After I had looked round the whole village and was heading back, I notice that someone had changed the sign and it was open. Brilliant, worth a look. I spent almost an hour in there, chatting to the two volunteer ladies, and taking photo's. Sadly recording videos is not allowed.
The building is divided up into several rooms, and each one was jam packed full of just about every antique you can think of. I was really pleased to see things that I remembered from my childhood.
See that tin opener hanging up next to the Ajax. I have one exactly the same that I am using now. Who needs fancy gadgets, when the old fashioned ones work perfectly well.

Ha ha, remember the telephones of yesteryear.
I had a school satchel just like that one. And I had an electric fire the same as that when I moved away from home into my first bedsit.
My mum had a treadle sewing machine which I used to make my own clothes, dresses and skirts.

Oh and the school desk. I shared a double one like this with my friend Ian. The school was going to take delivery of some new desks. There was a competition to decide who gets them. The winners were those who kept their desks the tidiest. I was off school poorly so Ian tidied both his and my side of our desk. He did such a good job, we were one of the few who got a new desk.
This is part of a massive wall hanging. I'm not sure what year it was made.

This gentleman made these model engines.
Hey, remember these hairdryers, I had one the same as this.
And I had a typewriter. Can't remember who gave it to me.
Look, a baby dolly. I have one with the same plastic head, but sadly the rubber body is falling apart.
I had an old sewing machine for about 20 years or more. Thought I would sell it, but sadly there are so many of them, no one wants to buy them.
What a super day that was.  Here is a link to the Cawthorne Museum web site. Well worth a look if you are in the Barnsley area.
A walk back to the car and I was home by 6.30pm. Where shall I go next.

Car camping breakfast

Here is a video from Sunday morning at Woolley Edge Services on the M1 in Yorkshire. Getting ready for a day out at Cannon Hall. I got here on Saturday at about 6.30pm. There was still an hour or two of daylight left, so I went a walk to explore the area. I came across a chappie who was busy strimming the grass at the front of his farm. We stood chatting for a good half an hour. Then I followed the footpath which went right through his farm. What a nice man he was. We had a good laugh.

I made another video when I got to Cannon Hall. I'll get that uploaded tomorrow.
Today I have been working in the garden, it's been a lovely day.

Lost for words.

There is a new book out for those who are interested. You can find it on Amazon.  Available on Kindle and paperback. By Dr Miles Stones.

That was quick, they must have worked day and night to get that out.

The Story of the Maui Fire and its Implications for Climate Change is a gripping and eye-opening account of one of the most devastating wildfires in Hawaii's history, and how it reveals the urgent need to address the global climate crisis. The book chronicles the events of August 8-11, 2023. A comprehensive and compelling narrative of the Maui fire and its implications for climate change. Recommendations on how we can prevent and prepare for future wildfires, and how we can reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate.

Chapter 6. Media Manipulation & Misinformation.

Inside Cannon Hall

Good morning. And so I continue with the Cannon Hall photo's. Let's have a look at what is going on indoors. Here is an introduction to the fashion show which is currently on display.
I see that this event is on until the 10th of September, so not much time left if you want to see it. More information here.

Cannon Hall Museum will also display original catwalk outfits from the houses of Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garçons, and Vivienne Westwood.

Someone tell Terry Miles not to come here and bash the piano 😁😁😁

There are lots of paintings to admire. Check out the Museum page and have a look around with the virtual tour. Use your mouse to guide you around.
Down in the servants quarters.
How they used to do the washing.

Outside in the walled garden they have a sponsorship tree. Make a donation and you can have your name on a leaf.

Here is a short video about Cannon Hall, excellent drone footage, worth a look. I would say this is a fantastic day out for everyone. Families with kids and dogs, and single walkers like me. The bottom car park opposite the Farm Shop is is £5 per day to park. If you carry on past it and up the lane to the House Car Park it is only £3 per day. Just £1 if you are only visiting for a couple of hours. Cash in the machines, get a ticket for your car. You can easily walk from one car park to the other. The walkways are flat so suitable for kids buggies and motorised buggies.

That's it for now. The next post will be about the village of Cawthorne. See you then.
