A one handed blog post.

Hello. I think it will have to be a short one tonight, I'm having to do this one handed. Why? My left arm is a cushion for an elderly moggy, Bugsy insists on lying across it. He is purring like a diesel engine. Not a lot of excitement today. I woke early at 4.30am and took a while to get back to sleep again. I really should have got up because I didn't wake again until 8am, half the day gone. The morning was spent painting blocks of wood and thinking about how it is going to fit together. I have a plan, it should work.

Me and Rocky had our usual bimble to the church and back, a walk that takes half an hour. He enjoys the sniffing. I see someone has removed the broken wire rubbish bin sited next to the seat. This has looked an eyesore for a long time so I am pleased to see it gone. The post is still there, firmly fixed to the ground, I hope they are going to take it away and not bring another bin to put there. There are bins at all three entrances, so anyone leaving the churchyard can deposit their rubbish in one of those.

I popped to the retail park for an hour this afternoon. It's not far, only three miles. On the way I called into the Cash and Carry and stocked up on the 20p cartons of rice milk, and the 30p packets of linseeds. I bought a bag of Kelkin High Protein Granola, 380 grm, for £1. Not had it before, I will put it in the mini chopper with the fruit and nuts, for my breakfast.

I had another appointment at the docs at 5pm in the next village. The wart on my cheek is still there albeit slightly smaller. More ointment was dabbed on and he said I should come back in ten days for another treatment if it is still there. I don't know, what a lot of faffing. The doc says they are not allowed to cut it out because it is on my face, if it was anywhere else on my body they could take the knife to it. Sounds barmy to me.

I popped into the small Tesco after the docs, managed to get three packets of six wholemeal bread buns for 15p each. The rest of the yellow stickers were not worth having. Not much in the Co op either, just a punnet of grapes at half price.

I had to wait for the rain to stop tonight before I could do my three miles. That's why I'm a bit late doing this. I can feel myself getting fitter, my energy levels are rising. I saw a man I have seen before, he always walks fast by himself. Me being nosy I got talking to him because he was going the say way I was. His stride was longer than mine so he was a good pacemaker. A bit further on I saw a friend with his black labrador. The dog knows me and gets excited when he sees me. Unfortunately I had no treats in my pocket, I must remember to take a few with me because you can bet your bottom dollar that I will see a dog at some point on the walk.

I'll sign off now, I think Rocky may want to go out for a short walk up the street. I'll have to untangle myself from this cat. Thanks for popping in. Catch up soon.

  1. good post!
sounds like you are doing great, and I would have thought you were already fit before the 1000 miles began.
hugs to the cats & sweet Rocky. glad you got some good buys, I can't find them here that low, but I'm glad you do.
just happy, I'm trying and will keep at it.

  2. Sounds like a good afternoon for you and how wonderful to lend Bugsy your arm, he's probably enjoying the warmth and attention. Sorry to hear your wart is still a problem. I hope it clears soon. Cheers!

  3. Good Morning Ilona. I am off to work later today and will get a really good walk in once I get off the train. Must admit to being intrigued by what your plans are for the woodblocks.... is the project anywhere near finished?

  7. Sounds nice and cozy, Ilona. I always get kind of sleepy when my little dog is curled up on my lap. Animals are wonderful.
I am up to 38 miles, but missed the past couple of days due to refrigerator shopping. Ours is just about gone and we had to find a replacement. It will be delivered this afternoon, and I am very grateful!
I plan on a lovely 9 miler tomorrow. I feel myself getting fitter as well. I am not overweight or anything, but flabby in areas, and that is toning up bit by bit.
Weather is superb here right now.

  8. I am rather sceptical re your doctor saying "not allowed to cut the wart out" - because its on your face. I've had to have some blemishes removed recently (including from my face) and they have all been "cut out". Of course, the explanation may be that I had to have them removed privately (ie because the NHS refused to do so). I suspect your doctor told you that in order to save NHS money - rather than because its really the case.

  9. I agree with Ceridwen, I ve had several non cancerous blemishes removed from my face, referred by gp to hospital dermatologist. My mother had a lump cut out by her gp,very skilfully i must admit. You can always ask for hospital referral if you want.
Amanda in very wet Wales,I should have got ducks instead of chickens!

    1. How did you manage it Amanda? I was also trying to get mine done in wet Wales...though I've had ones removed before now in England by the NHS. Whether this is NHS cutbacks affecting different areas differently? I admit its a bit of a luxury in some ways - but I ask the NHS for so little compared to many that I was not charmed.

  12. I think rain is holding us all up one way or another...I'm a bit behind on my miles, only averaging 2 a day as of today. Hope to get back on target soon but we've had ice and sleet today so it's not very encouraging.

  14. I had a warty thing cut from my face a couple of years ago. My GP was a frustrated surgeon and really keen to do it! x

  15. Hi.They just love to use us as pillow and hot water bottles don't they?So sweet.I think you have a lovely life in your village and enjoy reading about your days.I picked up some bargains in a town fifteen minutes drive from here to get a good price on gluten free bread and non gmo foods and juices. It's shocking that fresh produce is so high.I bought frozen instead. Our Canadian loonie has sunk again to 69.5 cents on the dollar(U.S.)and hydro is up 35% and other utilities climbing, gas(petrol to you)is high also.Good grief! We sell oil, goods and commodities to our largest "free" trading partner, the U.S. and then buy it back after they have been processed at a much higher price.Insanity abounds.Am repeating myself, here, sorry, but do care enough to be a" know it all" pest.Your gp treatment of "wart" results in a reoccurance after several treatments...Perhaps a dermatologist is now the next logical step here?Best wishes to the walking/moving brigade!Bye for now,d.
