It's been a making day today.

Hello. Thank you all for your emails, and comments, they are much appreciated. You are right of course, keep calm and get on with it. There is a lot of wisdom out there, thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's a good job I can bounce back, I have already put the delete button to good use, so pathetic reader, if you are looking for your comment on the previous post I've dumped it. Can't you find something better to do with your time than to drag up stuff from years ago.
Let's move on, I've been busy. Today I cut up a duvet given to me, and made pet beds with it. Three large and four medium size. I seem to think the green stripey fabric was given to me by a reader. These will be sold on the cat stall, hopefully.
The third and last cutlery flower is done. I used another cd, this one has a nice blue front with hardly any writing on which is hidden by the two spoons. I could have put six spoons on it but that would have covered most of the blue.

I like the second one best, far right.

The brooch thing in the middle is plastic, it came off a childs dress which I found in a skip. I gave the dress to a charity shop.

This is almost finished now, a few more vinyl flowers to put on the plastic strips. I didn't space them out very well so now I am having to add more to fill the gaps. It will stay in the garden and should not fall apart. The flowers are fixed on with cable ties and there is a button on the front and the back. The strips will be fixed on the top and bottom rails so should withstand the wind. I've had the clothes rail for ages, found in a skip. Knew there would be a use for it.

That's it, dinner eaten, now I must go and walk it off. Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

  3. Ilona - I've loved all your lovely cutlery flowers - I'm sure they would be a good seller if you managed to make some for the cat stall. What date is the summer garden show on the green? Jenny will need to change her shift for us to come and hopefully we'll have more items to sell. (and it was me who gave you the green fabric - I'll possibly have some more for you soon).

  4. Ilona your garden is going to look amazing for the open gardens. Sorry to hear you’ve had some unpleasantness to deal with. I certainly enjoy your blog and get lots of inspiration from it.

  6. Cutlery flowers, all very pretty, but my favourite is the first one you made with spoons. I love seeing your kitty pics. Those dangling strips are just asking for kitty paws to play with them.:-)

The jeweled garden just gets better and better. I am going to look through your past posts about making the cat beds. We just adopted a rescue cat who is still on the mend from what must have been a pretty rough time. He has a lovely nature and, with a bit of feeding up, we hope one day a coat to match. Thank you for being an inspiration in our home!

    1. The beds are very simple to make. I cut up a duvet into smaller cat/small dog size pieces, then cut some cotton fabric slightly larger for the covers. Sew them together on three sides, right sides facing. Turn them right sides on the outside, insert duvet, and sew up the fourth side. I did a few hand stitches in four places right through the middle to keep it flat and stop the duvet moving about inside the cover.

They are just flat pieces of duvet, covered, and can be washed.

  9. Your garden looks so colourful and its great that it is all recycled stuff aswell.Ive been given some old LPs from Hubbys mate who is moving house soon.Ive told him not to throw anything away and let me see if I can do anything with it! So this week Im going to see if i can upcycle them in some way, although some i will keep because Ive still got a record player.I love the old 60s music! It looks like we are in for a nice day today so outdoors it will be again. You have given me an idea, for an old garden swing frame that i have.Ive had it for the last 3 years,so it will be great to do something with it!xx

    1. You could always fasten string from top to bottom like Ilona has put the strips, but instead grow sweet peas and runner beans up it.
:-) Or you could grow a climber like honeysuckle over it. Ilona's recycling ideas just go on growing.
      (Excuse the pun.) Lol.

    2. Hello Jean...I just might try that.Growing something that can be eaten on it...Ive been looking at it on and off all day and had thought of putting a rose plant and trying to trail it around it...so it looked like an archway. But maybe peas and runner beans would be more usefull for us.The only thing is apart from tying the string,I havent got a clue what to do then because I have never done them before.I will go on to youtube and see if they can show me how to start.Thanks.xx

  11. Sorry you've been upset Ilona. My experience of these types of people in real life has taught me that they get really frustrated if you just don't take any notice at all. Don't even mention they are trying to harrass you. It drives them mad :) Best wishes, Eilidh x

yorkshire lass here, i haven't looked at any comments for a few days, i am just saying that the jewelled cutlery plants made me smile. also want to add, i tried to look at joannes 1940 house on the library computer and it was censored because of images of alcohol and smoking! ha! censorship gone mad, i am an adult and i think i can cope with that without being censored for my own good.

  13. Afternoon Ilona

Sorry to hear you've had 'some unpleasantness'. What a shame people feel the need to be like that. Isn't there enough badness going on in the world without making more for no good reason. Nuff said!

Oooh… you're making dog beds! I have looked on Utube on how to make a dog bed, but lost the will to live. Could/would you be willing to share how to make one? Or point me in the right direction. I know of a local (to me) lady who is rescuing dogs, and I thought about making some for her when she fosters the dog out. Love your homemade garden ornaments! Very eye-catching.

Hope weather is shining in your part of Lincolnshire too. Have a good afternoon.

    1. Afternoon Ilona

Many thanks for that information. I've got some unwanted pillows, so I'll make a casing and use the pillow stuffing. I'll keep the info for when I come across an old duvet (that seems a lot less faff that using the pillows, but I'm in no rush).

Pleased that you are continuing with your blog.

      Regards

      Carol

  14. Thank the Lord you didn’t fold. Read only comments from people who love you, we out number the creeps. I’m behind you, waste nothing. I love the spoons and forks lawn ornaments. Only wish I could see your yard in person. Keep shining.
