Introducing the new Prime Minister. (New comments added.)

This is Gloria. I think we should give her a chance of running the country. Nobody else seems to have the gumption to do it. Meet the new leader of The Common Sense Party. Due to her lack of communication skills, she will be assisted by myself of course. She is a stay at home mum to Mayze cat, so therefore will not be moving from her comfortable position on the armchair. However, I have mastered the art of keyboard skills pretty well, so therefore I will be conveying her instructions to the rest of the cabinet.
Now come on Gloria. Get yourself out of bed, we have work to do.

Hurry up with your ablutions, I haven't got all day.
If you could help with the washing up that would be a good start.
Sorry there isn't much in the fridge. I will go shopping later.
Alright, you can come with me to the shops.
Drat, now what is the problem. Can you fix it?
Let's chill out Gloria. It's very stressful being the Prime Minister.
Time to make a video. Gloria, you are in my chair. Oh well, your turn, you do it then.
I have to go out Gloria. Do you think you can cope while I am away? I have to go for a walk. There are some emails you need to deal with. And no, you can't resign just yet. Wait till I get back.

How Gloria was born. Plastic and wood and fabric makes up the bulk of her.

Can you put some clothes on me. I don't like being naked.
The shorts are pretty good, but I don't like flashing my spindly legs.
That was a hard days work. I don't think I can stand much more of this. Let's go back out into the garden. Stuff the chuffin country, I'm not cut out for all that squabbling. I am resigning.
Thanks for popping in. We will catch up soon. Toodle pip.   ilona

  1. Hi Mean queen I like your Gloria doll. I showed him to my son and he says she would make a really good Guy Fawkes. Can we have her for our bonfire? Many thanks, Juliette

    1. Thank you Briony. I like to think that some of us can joke about the current situation.

  8. I'm sure Larry the cat would welcome her with open paws...he seems to be the only resident at No 10 who's doing his job properly. I was most impressed with the footage of him seeing off the fox the other night! Arilx

    1. Oh heck. I forgot about Larry. He might fancy a new girlfriend, but I don't think she will fall for his charms. She can be a bit of a diva.

    1. That's very kind of you to say so. I think the description of a little bit bonkers covers both of those words.

  12. Love the photos of Gloria! If she ever has a sister, can she be a candidate for the Common Sense party in our constituency? I would vote for her.

    1. I lost faith in my MP a long time ago. We could make a whole army of Glorias and take them all down to number 10. That would be a lark.

  13. Gloria is lovely!! And I agree with her, hanging out with you, Mayze and relaxing in her chair or on nice days in the garden sound the best. Let the others fight things out and see what company will offer them the most money to endorse them. Here in the US they are all a joke.

    1. Our Government is in tatters, and to be honest it doesn't matter a jot who is going to step forward and put themselves on the chopping block. The only people leading the world are those with the most money.

  15. Dear Ilona, I've been reading your blog for many years (who remembers how many of anything?) but I really missed your animal companions as they crossed the rainbow bridge and I didn't drop in as often. And watching the decline of the UK and my own disturbing country (USA) has had me a bit nervous about reading blogs I've loved for so long. However!! I'm so glad to hear your voice again and see your quirky creativity so beautifully expressed. Thanks for sharing your life with us. And I'll get stuck in again! Kate

    1. Dear Kate. Nice to have you back. I think we are all struggling to come to terms with what is going on in the world. For some the answer is to ignore it all and carry on regardless. At the other end of the scale one can be obsessed by devouring every bit of information out there with the result that one's life will never be the same again. I am somewhere in the middle.

I cannot ignore what is going on. I read and make my own assessments of the situation. I choose whether to immerse myself in it or distract myself and take my mind off elsewhere. It's about balance. My life is not on hold while I wait for the next crisis. I do not dwell on whatever has happened before, nor do I hide away in fear of what might happen.

The ability to inject some humour into what others might perceive as OMG what do we do next, is my version of a normal life. I will not change how I am just to suit someone's expectation of how I should conduct my life. As always, you can't change what others say or do, but you can change how you deal with it.

Life is an ever revolving door. You can leave stuff behind and move on, or you can stay put. try exploring a little further afield. I like to mix my blog up. Some bits you will like, other parts of it you may wish to ignore. A lucky dip which may trigger a few chuckles, or a quick swipe which will get rid of me from your screen. Best wishes. ilona

  16. I love Gloria and feel you had lots of fun making her. Will she be going car camping?

    1. I can't see that happening. She is rather big and would take up too much space. Spose I could tie her onto the roof.

  17. Gloria sitting in the car reminded me of that episode of 'Only Fools and Horses', when Del and Rodney had the rude inflatable dolls dressed up in their mum's clothes, and they were transporting them across London in their van. H x

    1. Here you go. There are three short videos covering the dolls. This one is where they bring them out of the flat and chuck them in the van. Very funny.

  19. I am enjoying this post, I'll leave it at the top for a bit longer. So, Elizabeth has thrown in the towel. It was to be expected. This is how the drama of British politics has been reported on German television. Annette Dittert admits that this is the first time she has sworn in English on German TV. She picked up the fruity language from other interviews with British MP's. You don't need to understand the German language. It's hilarious.
