Common sense is overruled

Not a good idea. They are letting more criminals in, so they should be building more prisons.

More out on the streets, more crimes will be committed. Our ridiculous Government falling in line with their masters from above. Lock your doors, don't leave your pets unattended, always look behind you when walking about. Oh lordy, it gets worse.

Sing along with Jesus

Good afternoon. What you see is not what you get.

Elias Grace is not a real singer. He is AI generated.

What happens when a man who looks like Jesus steps onto the America's Talent Arena stage… and sings one of the most beloved hymns ever written? Tonight, Elias Grace delivers a breathtaking new version of How Great Thou Art unlike anything you've ever heard. From the very first note, the arena goes completely silent. The judges lean forward. The audience stops moving. And as Elias begins to sing, the atmosphere changes.

How to hook people in. 2,129,525 views since 17th July.  36k thumbs up.  4230 comments, and people actually believe it's real. How easy it is to be sucked into the AI machine.

There is no public figure named “Elias Grace” who is recognized as a singer; available search results show no artist by that name.

Elias Grace sang "How Great Thou Art"... and the arena stood still. 🙏
If you could say ONE thing to God right now, what would it be? Write it below — your words matter. ❤
And tell us WHERE in the world you're watching from!

Well if you like this sort of thing, go for it. In this crazy world people are desperately searching for the meaning of life. External forces are pushing us all in one direction. Look inside yourself to find your own way through.

Cancelled.

 Isle of Man Today

3h .
The rest of TT 2026 has been abandoned because of the weather.
Read more at the link in the comments below.

TT organisers have confirmed that the rest of this year’s festival has been cancelled because of the weather. It had been hoped to re-run Friday night’s red-flagged Senior race and a Sportbike race on Saturday, but it has now been confirmed that this won’t be now possible with conditions not improving. Sunday’s contingency day had already been ruled out because of the weather forecast for it.

‘Following consultation between the Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson MBE and the Isle of Man Met Office, it has been determined that the forecast weather conditions around the Course are not looking to sufficiently improve within the required time, and the remaining available operational windows do not provide a suitable opportunity for any further racing to be completed safely.

Read the story here. Isle of Man Today.

I wonder what is causing this crazy weather we are having.

Enjoy your Sunday.    ilona

Daft idea.

 Bernie says . . . . .

Of course they face council objections! You can’t have gullies with cabling all over the pavements it a massive hazard! Daft Ed didn’t think this through! A bit like he hasn’t thought through lots of stupid Net Zero policies

Common sense.
Installing humps into pavements where blind and visually impaired people might trip over them. People with their faces glued to their screen, falling over the Trip Hazard warning sign. Women with buggies might shake the baby awake when she is trying to get it off to sleep. Delivery men with a barrow would lose half of his load as the wheels bumped over it. Getting the cable out each evening to charge the car overnight, and putting it away in the morning before going to work. Imagine if every car in the street needed to be hooked up to the grid. Multiple humps for intoxicated people to fall over, on their way home from a night out. Broken limbs clogging up the emergency department at the hospital.
Now what are you going to do Mr Milibrain, when half the posh houses in central London will have to stick with their gas guzzling diesel and petrol cars. What a daft idea.

My authentic self.

Phew it's been a hot one today. I visited my friend June this afternoon while this video was uploading.
Just got back from a Billy walk. It's too hot to walk a dog in the afternoon, so early evening it has to be.
Some blurb from the video. . . . .written by me.
I tend to open my mouth not knowing what is going to come out of it. Like putting my big foot in it and upsetting someone. When typing something, I can at least put my thoughts into some kind of order, before I press the send button. Even then some mistakes can occur. I often take chances with communication, because you never know how the recipient is going to take it. If you fear offending someone you would never say anything. And so, people will draw their own conclusions about you, of which you have no control over.

A summary, not written by me. . . .

That's a pretty accurate summary I may say.

Thanks for popping in. Enjoy your weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona

What the heck ! ! !

Good morning.
WTH have I just watched??????????
It's enough to make you want to run away into the hills and cut yourself off from the rest of the world.
Carl Vernon is stuck for words.
If you want your brains scrambled, watch this.
If you want to keep hold of your sanity, don't watch it.
It doesn't matter what they look like, it's what is coming out of their mouths that's important.
Are they human or have they come from another planet?

Too risky?

Good morning.

Random picture from the library

A sunny start, but still cold. A question came up on a litter picking site.

I live in a village where the A38 (which is a 40mph road) divides our village. The council will not allow litter pickers to work on it. The litter is awful, what can I do?

Well Mr Litter picker, since when do you have to ask someone's permission to do some tidying up. Obviously the road is not private land, it is a public highway. People are allowed to drive along it, cycle along it, ride a horse along it, and walk along it. Each one of those activities has it's own risks.

Do your own risk assessment. Are there restrictions, any signs saying no walking? Like you can't walk on a motorway. Too dangerous and it's against the law. Take note of busy times when there is likely to be a lot more traffic, eg, people going to and from work. Avoid those, go when it's quiet. Choose your times. Like a Saturday or Sunday.

If you are going to clear grass verges along a stretch of road you need to be seen. Common sense. Wear something bright, like a high viz jacket or vest, or even high viz trousers. Walk as you pick facing the oncoming traffic. Common sense. Be prepared to change sides if you come to a bend so you can see around it.

Before you cross stop look and listen. Look right, look left, and look right again. Just like being back at school. Common sense.

Use your ears to listen for traffic. Sound carries a long way across open spaces. If you are deaf, even more care should be taken. Do not dash across, wait until all is quiet. Litter picking is a leisurely activity, no need to hurry. Personal safety is important. Common sense.

This post isn't about litter picking, it's about personal responsibility. As I said, do your own risk assessment, as with any decisions you have to make in life. If you think the litter pick along your road would be too dangerous, don't do it. Find somewhere else safer. There is plenty to choose from.

Have a nice day. Toodle pip. ilona

Toxic people. Edited

Hello. I have copied this from Lee Asher's Faceboook page. He has had a lot of aggravation from trolls.

The Asher House

21h
If you ever want to do something great in this world, you have to learn how to deal with the hate that will come with it.
I recently received a message from an animal rescuer asking how to handle the online criticism and attacks she’s been facing. Sadly, this is something I hear about all the time. Many people in animal rescue and even people outside of it come to me asking how to deal with the negativity that shows up when you put yourself out there.
The truth is, it takes an incredibly unhappy and toxic person to want to hurt someone who is trying to do something good in the world. But the reality is that online bullying is real, and in the animal rescue community especially, it has caused deep pain. Tragically, some incredible people have even taken their own lives because of it.
So if you’re facing criticism right now, please remember this: there is always far more love and support for you than hate. The loudest voices are rarely the majority.
When you choose a path of purpose, you will be tested. Not because you’re failing but because you’re being asked if you’re strong enough to continue the work you were meant to do.
Take the hate as a sign that you’re on the right path.
We’re all here to help each other grow, to challenge each other to be better and ultimately to learn how to lead with love.

Tammie from the Charity Pumpkin the Wheelie Westie, has also been suffering from online bullies. She has put a video out about it.
It does seem like there is an epidemic of hate, and it's growing. Lee and Tammie are posting about it. And of course my troll is still hounding me.

EDIT.
Just found this. Someone criticising litter pickers. English is not their first language. 😆
Reply from UK Litterpicking Group.

Comments & posts such as this have no place in this group ....declined & banned . If people really think that the council street cleaners could cope without volunteers then they're seriously wrong......we do many areas that street cleaners can not, there are many streets & parks in towns that would take the few cleaners a year to do where we know areas need regular cleaning not once now n again ....so if you see Comments like this that normally ....not always ....get declined ....please don't engage with them as they are not worth your valuable time ....just report to admin & we'll happily remove comment & ban member.....obviously they do not share our values when it comes to litter . The group is growing increasingly in numbers & soo many fantastic posts & supportive comments,so keep up the great work all & huge thanks to everyone one of you & you are all so very much appreciated

Comment just come in to my blog.
Oh lol! Linda has nailed it.
You say it is an online diary but it isn’t your want applause and people saying how wonderful you are. And if there is a bit of casual racism even better.

There are some sick people about.
When something is going wrong in someone's life, all they can do is lash out and attack others. If you are being bullied don't be a victim. They have the problem.

Work exchange visit cancelled

Good morning.

The sun is shining but it is very cold. I have had to break the ice on the birds drinking bowls scattered about on the lawn.

I came across this snippet of news last night, so a quick copy and paste was all I had time for before I went to bed. So What's it all about? You might get the gist of it if you have time to read it. The text on the letter might be a bit difficult to read, sorry, not had time to edit it.

VictoriaAtkins
✍️URGENT letter to Home Secretary about animal welfare.
@ukhomeoffice
ministers have stopped 75 highly skilled sheep shearers from coming to the UK for this year’s sheep shearing season. tell me that Australian and Kiwi shearers usually shear 1.5-2 million sheep in our warm months to prevent heat stroke and disease. The Home Office must u-turn on this decision urgently before the season starts in two months.
Comments from other sources.
The government is trying to stop 75 highly skilled sheep shearers from coming to the UK for this year’s sheep shearing season.
All part of Starmer's campaign to bankrupt the UK farmers.
Preventing Australian/Kiwi Sheep Shearers from entering the UK at the height of season appears to be part of an all out attack on Farmers by its own Govt as well as this being animal cruelty.
For years there's been a partnership & friendships between Australian NZ & UK shearers & surrounding communities.
So I guess the shearers from the UK won't be able to go to NZ & Australia either. For years this partnership & friendship has existed & a petty bureaucratic breaks it. Another part of our culture destroyed
Photo from my blog post, 3rd June 2010. On holiday in Dorset.
I chatted to the young lady as they were getting ready. She told me they are from Lanarkshire, and they go all over the world shearing sheep. They have 350 to do here today.
A story about the Labour Government trying to stop the sheep shearers coming here to help out with the mammoth task of shearing all our sheep within a limited amount of time. So what happens when our sheep shearers want to go there to work on their shearing programme?
Have a good weekend. Toodle pip.   ilona
