Free food in the woods

After the bluebells we have the wild garlic. I took a few snaps yesterday while out on my walk. The wood was stunningly beautiful, and had a garlicky smell which was divine.

I had to make a video of it.
Now I must go and walk Billy dog. He will be waiting for me.
Catch ya later. Toodle pip.   ilona

    1. It seems to spread like crazy. There is much more of it than in previous years.

  3. Do you ever get a start of something for your garden when you are on a walk in the woods? Years ago restaurants would have live plants for decoration and my mother would break a piece off of a plant she liked and would wrap it in a wet paper towel and take it home and put it in water to sprout roots and plant. I would be so embarrassed 🙈 But can appreciate the frugality now.

  4. Hi ilona, the wild garlic is amazing at this time of year, isn't it? In your video I also spotted Jack-by-the-hedge (garlic mustard) and loads of nettles, all edible. Free wild food everywhere at this time of year! Foraging is my thing, I love it. Made dandelion bread this week, it's almost gone now, I'll have to make another loaf soon! It's lovely to see everything springing into life, bright fresh green of the new leaves on all the trees, fabulous! We have a beautiful big woods just up the road from our house, we went for a walk there the other day and I spotted the wild strawberries and blueberries starting to show. Xx
